I adore this tee. I’m not usually one for slogans, but I love showing this off at every opportunity. I love that I feel so passionate about encouraging women to love themselves, but more importantly loving and encouraging each other. One woman’s beauty is NOT absence of your own. Please remember that. I’m guilty of it though. I stupidly found myself in a mood the other day because one of my girls’ waist looked so small and I was jealous 😂🙄 I even catch myself thinking awful thoughts about other people purely based on their appearance and that upsets me because I am working so hard to eliminate that.

It reminds me of something that I told one of the girls last night. I think I heard it from @sofiehagendk. Your first thought is what you have been taught. It’s what’s been ingrained into your brain, it’s what society tells you to think. It’s what your second thought is that really matters. That is far more of an indicator of YOU. If you see a fat girl really enjoying a huge slice of cake, or a sandwich, or a super cheesy baked potato, I’d say it was understandable that you would have a pretty horrible thought ‘She shouldn’t be eating that’ 'wow she’s greedy’ whatever. Because that is what society teaches us to think. Fat shaming is SO ingrained into everyday life it’s disgusting! So you can forgive yourself for instantly thinking that. If you catch yourself having thought that and correct that thought THAT is you. That is what YOU truly think.

So keep challenging those thoughts, keep educating yourself and encouraging all the women around you. Let’s lift each other up instead of tearing each other down. Stand with each other, not against. We already face so many issues, we don’t need fractures from within.

I want to take a few minutes to say something important this morning. #bodypositivity is for everyone. EVERYONE. People of all genders, sexualities, shapes, sizes, races, nationalities, identities, abilities, classes. EVERYONE. In fact it applies to so much more in life than just #bopo (*cough* feminism, and just human freaking rights *cough*), but one thing at a time. Intersectionality is a crucial concept to make yourself aware of right now, particularly in this time where politics are changing and there are a lot of scary views and opinions flying around. I’m not an expert on this, but I’m doing my reading and I’m educating myself and I am learning. I am a cis gendered, able bodied, white, thin, super freaking privileged woman and I understand that you don’t really need another one of me on your feeds, but I just want to make clear that I support all of you. I am here for all of you. I want to listen and watch and experience all of your journeys too. You are all just as valid, just as wonderful, just as important, in fact you’re even more so. I’m not even sure how to end this as I don’t think I can find the words to sum up how I feel, nothing I write feels good enough. Just….
