Afternoon studying Dante and all his bibliography, not my favorite.

It was all weird because yesterday (August 10th) there was a tornado here, trees fell, like I drew in my bullet journal and like in the last picture, also inside the camping I’m at, luckily nobody here was hurt, in the area there have been a lot of people taken to hospitals though. 

I think it lasted about 5 minutes but it was enough for me to not look at wind the same way.

So anyways, happy with the progress I made, see you soon!

Currently at the sea, but still need to have hours of studying. So this afternoon I set down and studied a bit of Italian, maybe really few in some people’s opinion but I think doing this makes my brain acquire the informations better.

Also, how cute is the new planner I got for my birthday! “Don’t stress. Do your best.” Is my new anthem!

THE ITALIAN SCHOOL SYSTEM

Today I want to explain to you the Italian school system, hoping you’ll understand how it works and in the future you will understand what I’m talking about.

The entire system is different from any other country (based on what I know) but I won’t explain the entire thing, I’ll just focus on the high school.

Main things:

high school lasts 5 years;

you get in at 14 years old and you get out at 19;

you can fail a year, which means you have to redo it;

you can get a “debito” during the school year or during summer, which means you have to take an exam for that subject, if you pass you go on to the next class and if you fail you redo the year you were on;

at the end of the five years we have “esame di stato”/”esame di maturità” (state exam/ maturity exam), you have 3 exams and an oral test to check your knowledge on the subjects you studied for the past 3 years;

we don’t have an high school in every town and everybody goes there, most high schools are near the city and they are divided on the type of the school.

School types:

Liceo: is the school type in which you study more cultural and theoretical subjects.

Classico: (classic) you focus mainly on Italian literature, latin, Ancient Greek, history, philosophy; basically classics

Scientifico: (scientific) you focus on maths and sciences

Scientifico scienze applicate: (applied sciences) it’s similar to “scientifico” but they also have IT and more hours in labs

Linguistico: (languages, mine) it focuses on languages, always 3, English is always in the plan and the other two variate from Spanish, German and French (I have the first two)

Artistico: (arts) it focuses on all the artistic subjects

Scienze umane: (human sciences) focuses on psychology and sociology

Musicale: (musical school) focuses on music and playing instruments

Istituto Tecnico: is the school which stays in the middle (between liceo and istituto professionale) and is theoretical but also practical

Istituto Professionale: it basically teaches how to do a certain job.

Grade system:

The grades go from 1 to 10:

1 to 4: really bad, you didn’t know much of the topic (American F)

4 to 5: still really bad, you knew just bits and pieces (F)

5 to 6: you knew a lot but not enoudh (F)

6 to 7: you knew just enough (D)

7 to 8: you knew good enough (C)

8 to 9: really good (B)

9 to 10, 10: great you knew everything , or almost (A)

WHAT I CAN HELP YOU WITH

I’ve been thinking about writing this post for the longest time now.

I don’t think all of you reading this post have read my introduction to Tumblr, so you might not know that my main subjects in high school are languages.

In the five years of high school I have a lot of subjects but we could say the most important ones are: English, Spanish and German.

This meaning that I can help you with these three languages and Italian.

My language levels:

Italian: mother-tongue

English: B2 (Cambridge)

Spanish: between B1 and B2 (DELE)

German: between A2 and B1

If you need any help with these languages you can either contact me in private or ask or submit a post about a topic and I’ll try to explain as well as I can.
