Does anyone know some birds whose names in languages other than English have cool meanings?

Like in English there is the Goldeneye, the Honeyguide, Meadowlark, Helldiver, Peregrine… or even something like Darter or Warbler?

Also, if anyone knows birds which double as names in other languages, (ex. Robin, Wren, Jay, Phoebe) that would be incredibly helpful as well.

I am trying to do worldbuilding, but unfortunately Wikipedia is not very helpful in this regard. I refuse to not have diversity for such a stupid reason.

So today I learned that 'dwarven' is not an actual word.

At least, not to Tolkien.

I was using 'Ctrl +F' in my PDF versions of The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, and The Silmarillion for different variations and capitalizations of Tolkien's races of Dwarves and Elves and Men.

There are exactly 0, zero, zilch, nada—uses of the word 'dwarven or Dwarven' in Tolkien's entire almost 2,000 pages of legend and lore.

There are 270 uses of the word 'elven or Elven' across those same 2,000 pages.

Tolkien was a master of linguistics, and yet the word 'dwarven' never entered his vocabulary???

Elvish and Dwarvish are both used, so why not Elven and Dwarven?

If any Tolkien or linguist experts have an answer, I'd love to hear it! This has me thoroughly puzzled.

Do you know any poetic words or phrases (and/or a way to realistically shorten those phrases) that mean something along the line of "recovery from disaster"?

I mean something with a greater emphasis on the fact that disaster occurred, and nature itself is growing over to overtake it. Not human, but nature.

It can be from any language, so long as it carries the meaning!

Language/Translation Help Please

I want to do an embroidery project from my love of Korean dramas and BL that says

"If I'm not reading, I'm not watching"

But also, want to include that phrase in Thai, Korean, Mandarin and Japanese. I want to rely on real people. I don't want to rely on chat gpt, or Google Translate.

And I want the phrase to be clear that it's not just I have to have subtitles on while I watch something is that I want to watch something in a different language that I have to read the subs. If that makes sense.

If you are fluent in any of these languages or know anybody else who is, I would appreciate if you reblog this and pass it around, I want to make sure that I get real accurate translations from real speakers or this project.

There is this particular aesthetic that I enjoy but find inarticulable. It has a certain fixation on stating words as if writing the words were painful gesticulations which, on merit of their effortful production, cannot be asked to be elaborated further. Is there a name for this sort of thing?

ok so this might be a little odd but,I'm starting to learn norwegian and since I'm at a good point with grammar (I'm focusing on the grammar now and most of the actual words later) I would like it if someone could just talk to me a bit in norwegian just to let me practice with real conversations (not the crap courses or other language learning services offer with their "too perfect to be used in real life" example conversations). I already know this is a really big ask and I wouldn't want to bother anyone but I know literally NOBODY that speaks the language and I really just want simple conversations to practice and learn everyday norwegian. if anyone is ok with helping me my dms should be open,if they are not just reblog this and I'll send you a dm.
