It’s hard to know where to start here. There have been so many authors in this fandom who have written the most amazing one shots, @birbwin in particular, and @valisi-clark​ wrote some masterful ones.  Here’s a few of my favourites. 

Blood and Salt by @valisi-clark​ A beautiful and heart wrenching historical AU that’s also a brilliant study of war and trauma.  This piece is all the more precious because it was commissioned for me by @momtaku​. 

Death Takes a Holiday by @flecksofpoppy​  Another period piece.  Inspired by an Edward Hopper painting this is still one of the most unique and atmospheric fics I’ve ever read. 

The Boy and the Beech Tree by @elivra-fanfiction​ A gorgeous and poignant modern fairytale.  I lost my heart to this fic the very first time I read it. 

The Sin-Eater by @valisi-clark​ At 42K words this one shot is longer than many chaptered fics.  The world building in this amazing fic is extraordinary, the characterisation is brilliant, and the plot develops in a way you’d never expect.

good captain by @birbwin A canonverse oneshot that’s classic birbwin.  It’s ridiculous and moving and the characterisation is pitch perfect  

Gamerwin by @world-war-eruri​  This is as hilarious as it is horny.  I almost coughed up a lung laughing the first time I read this. 

Animals by @stereobone​  A moving modern prison AU.

Home Is Wherever I’m With You by @stereobone​ Classic post-ACWNR canonverse.  

School Night by @ladymacbethsspot​ A gorgeous and nostalgic teen AU, I love the atmosphere this conjures. 

Cold Snap by @ladymacbethsspot​ A canonverse piece from Ladymacbeth who has a real talent for evoking atmosphere and environment. 

Home by @zedsdead1001 A modern AU that will tear your heart into tiny little pieces and then carefully, lovingly put it all back together. 

World Enough, and Time by @melodyoftheriver A historical AU set during the Russian Revolution.  I read this for the first time just a couple of days ago and it’s just devastating. 

Wall of Death by @lostcauses-norefets Is it okay to add a couple of my own? Modern fairground AU with Levi as a wall of death rider.  Levi and bikes, what’s not to love?

Loosing It by @lostcauses-noregrets A modern club set AU featuring recreational drug use and the addition of a very hot Mike. 

Honourable mention to Renegade by @valisi-clark.  This used to be one of my favourite one-shots before it got even better by the addition of a second chapter.
