People say "oh, avid doesn't know Elle is dead!" But what about how ELLE doesn't know AVID is dead? Imagine she looked everywhere for him; and then finds a grave with his name on it. Imagine being so hopeful, and then finding a grave with your best friends name on it. Do you think she would have dug it up with her hands? Do you think she couldn't believe her eyes when she saw his deceased body, cold to the touch? Do you think she sat there for hours, maybe days by his grave? Maybe holding his dead body? Do you think, that for even just a second; she still had hope?
