Avid always raved about how much he wanted to be like his hero, Ren. Ren was loved. He was honest. He wasn't afraid of anything.

Then Avid was turned, and no matter how much he wanted to, he would never be able to follow in Ren's footsteps. If he was honest, he couldn't be loved, and if was loved, he couldn't be honest.

He'd never stopped being afraid. First of being hurt, then of hurting others.

The next time Avid saw Ren, he was brandishing the flag of the militia on his shield, leading the way to take the ruins. Being loved. Being honest. Being fearless. Being everything Avid wasn't. Heading the charge against everything Avid was.

But Avid followed Ren anyway, up to the ruins, walking in his footsteps the only way he could. They talked about the siege on the castle and the battle at the beach. How they couldn't sit back much longer, how they needed to eradicate the threat. Ren said he was ready to rally the town.

"You're our hero," Avid said in return.

The song is "Fire" from "Elementals" by KathrinaGimon, I do not know specifically what chior sang this, but I know it was part of TMEA2022, in all state.
