I saw @future-watcher posting some snippets of their writing, and I decided that was a good idea to conclude the day, since it is kind of driving me crazy since the word count between me and being finished with this fic keeps getting longer and longer.

This is my first Death Note fic, and I'm trying to be good and finish it before I start posting it in earnest.

This snippet doesn't have a lot of meaning or context yet, but I hope to create some intrigue and interest, nonetheless, in anyone who might eventually like to read my canon divergence fic of sorts.

Neighbors Snippet: Chapter 19

I've just discovered that Ellipsus Snippets are a thing, and I'm a little bit obsessed with it. I also was getting a little antsy sitting on ~4.5k words of a chapter while my Tumblr looked close to dead... so here's a sneak peek at what I'm working on! 🤍

I'm really excited for this chapter!! It's been a hard to find motivation for, partially because it's very heavily tied to the plot, and @deceiver-of-gods had to beat me away from the script of the show 😅

But I am gonna ask for some slack, because part of my lack of motivation is from getting engaged!!! 💍 My real-life Bucky and I are so so happy, but life lately has felt crazy. Wedding planning is no small feat, but I'm a determined DIY Girlie and Oldest Daughter™, so I'm not worried about it all coming together 😂

Between working on MerMay for my Artist account this year wish me luck 🤞 , planning a wedding in another state, and workshopping a book idea I have... I'm hoping I can get this Neighbors chapter out soon! Or at least, until another Snippet might tide you over 😅

A large majority of people said they'd like ailess whumptober crumbs as I write, so here's crumb #1!

(I'll try to share a crumb from each day, but of course feel free to scroll on past if you don't want spoilers! 😁)

Day 1's prompt is Fight/Flight/Freeze/Fawn - here's a lil tidbit!

Took a bit longer than usual because of this flare, but day 6 of ailess whumptober (misunderstanding leads to whump) is done at over 6k words! It's the first HTTYD 2 fic I've written, and it's an AU to boot - very excited to share this one!

As promised, here is a crumb! (Text version under the cut!)

Text version:

"Pl-please," he stammered again, "m-my dragon—"

The person froze in their approach, every muscle in their nimble form suspended in time. The hairs at the back of his neck prickled; he could feel the fury rolling from them in waves. Somehow, he'd crossed a line — though he had no idea what he possibly could have said or done to invoke this reaction.

After a paralyzing heartbeat, they spoke, and their voice was female, slightly muffled by the mask, with a strange intonation and lilt. Something about it felt almost… draconic. Very weird.

"Your dragon," she scoffed. "Can you own the sea, the sky? Can you own the earth beneath your feet or the freedom of flight?"

Hiccup hesitated, suspended somewhere between his fear for Toothless and his absolute bewilderment; Toothless was priority, of course, which was why he had to play this safe. He needed her to listen, to go back for Toothless. But how do you play it safe with a crazy lady who speaks in riddles and seems more animal than human?
