5. something in fiction that reads like poetry
Lolita by Nabokov
Yes, the subject matter is abhorrent - it's meant to be. But the prose reads like poetry. It's lush and multilayered, painting word pictures that are both beautiful and grotesque. That's kind of the point, hehe.
8. a book you finished in one sitting
I honestly can't remember when I had the time or attention span to do this... I know I must have at some point in the recent past but the memory isn't there. I do remember that I finished Interview with the Vampire the same day I bought it, when I was 14. I was doing a show but I was only in the chorus so I was reading backstage all night :P
9. your favourite book of 2020
This was a tough question for me because I mostly did audiobooks for work in 2020 but I did actually enjoy the Refuge Recovery book (a Buddhist take on Addiction recovery). I also got into the works of Ijeoma Oluo right at the end of the year and I'm now a BIG fan of her work (racial awareness/justice), now. I was also listening to lots of Brené Brown (perfectionism, vulnerability, and empathy)
71. your favourite LGBTQ+ fiction
It's a slight spoiler but the Nevernight Trilogy (Jay Kristoff) features a wlw pairing and I was madly in love with that series.
Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom (Leigh Bardugo) are a delightful duology with queer characters.
Another very slight spoiler but the fantastic Shades of Magic trilogy (V.E. Schwab) also features an awesome mlm pairing.
121. a book that makes you nostalgic
Anything by @tamorapierce tbh. I started with The Song of the Lioness Quartet when I was 8 years old and her books became a mainstay of my childhood/teen years. I've re-read most of the Tortall books more times than I can count.
Thank you for the ask, darling!! <333
