If the Byerses had never moved, Max would’ve been much less likely to get possessed because when you think about it, Max just needed a support system—someone who she doesn’t have to put on a brave face in front of (El)—and she wouldn’t have been nearly as miserable as she was in s4 which is what got her targeted by Vecna in the first place. Plus, El would’ve quickly caught onto Max’s strange behavior and they could’ve discovered Vecna’s existence much sooner. Obviously there are a lot of things that wouldn’t have added up with this but this is just food for thought.
