Sootrain wishes Goosebud and Blackflicker were there as he listens to the kits call his name.

Yay first moon! It's a little rough but I'm still happy with it. Sootrain is struggling hard to keep it together while the kits are blissfully unaware.

Title: Deep Dive

Summary: In a world where ThunderClan absorbed ShadowClan seasons ago, young warrior Weaselface is tasked to rebuild the fourth Clan and take her place as leader. But how can she betray all she’s ever known and loved, all on the word of one ghost with a grudge?

Excerpt:

"Mom," whined Hootpaw. The young 'paw was awkwardly bundled up in front of Squirrelwhisker, taking sharp licks to the ears and face. "I'm old enough to groom myself."

"Shut up and sit up," the ginger molly snapped. Ashpaw winced beside her. Weaselstar didn't think whiskers got straighter than what had become of his. "This is your first impression to the other Clans. You need to look perfect."

Elmkit poked her head and front paws over Adderpelt's side. She was pouting. "Lucky. I wanna go to the Gathering."

Adderpelt bumped their noses together. "Don't worry. I'll tell you kids so many stories, it'll be like you're there."

"But I wanna meet new cats. There's hardly anyone here." Her ears went flat. "It's not fair. How come Ashpaw and Hootpaw can go?"

"Because we're six moons old," Hootpaw replied. "Well, we are now."

I banged this entire chapter out in like two hours. I've been really hype to introduce more dynamics in the Gathering- Briarstar and Rainstar being patient and teacherly and Briarstar in particular seeking peace after how she killed one of Weaselstar's close Clanmates (and also wanting FoodsTM for it) and Spiderstar's new and mysterious pack of warriors.

Elmpaw: I got dad’s white chin!!!!

Featherpaw: I got his whole pelt!

Spottedpaw: That’s nothing, I got his patience.

Moon 173-Greenleaf

This greenleaf has been a hot one, and many cats have come down with heat exhaustion. Not great for the two Healer apprentices. Sleepyfoot (39), Chervilcry (152), Wormdart (29), Palejumble (13), and Elmkit (3) have all come down with it. And Primcrest (15) realizes that she actually has heatstroke. She knows enough about healing from having earth powers to identify it when the apprentices can’t. She’s also hesitant to heal herself, knowing the stories about dark-cursed cats who do. Fry’s (80) constant nightmares have stopped, and he’s looking forward to getting to go back on patrol and catching up with Creekstar (27). Gladepatch (49) appreciates the hard work his apprentices have been putting in and notices just how considerate Asterpaw (9) is. With Sleepyfoot sick, Pigeonspot (42) and Cypressbadger (39) have stepped up in watching out for the kits. Cypressbadger gives Goldenkit (3) a badger ride and Pigeonspot thinks she’s very helpful. Halfnoise (14) makes sure to spend time with Daisypaw (14), who is frustrated at not being a warrior yet. He makes jokes about neighboring clans with her and makes sure she feels seen. The stress of being the only two Healers in a Clan full of sick cats is starting to get to Asterpaw. He feels like Poolpaw (9) could be much more helpful than he is. While on a patrol, the apprentices find a loner named Marshdapple (64) and her three kits and bring them back to camp. Marshdapple and one of the kits, Frecklekit (0), have a weak earth-blessing. It will be nice to have a more experienced cat to help out in the Healer’s den, even if Marshdapple is still recovering from giving birth. At first they think the other two kits are powerless, but they realize that one of the kits, aptly named Lightkit (0), is giving off a little more heat than is normal. He’s fire-blessed. His brother, Tornkit (0), though, is powerless.
