I was wondering what your top unisex fragrances are? (They don't have to be marketed as such, more like scents you think would qualify as unisex?)

Thanks, my friend 💜 Buckle up, this is going to be a long one 😅

Personally, I think marketing different fragrances to different genders is in itself stupid and everybody should just wear whatever the hell they want, regardless of what the packaging/marketing says.

That being said, my personal top 3 unisex fragrances that are actually labelled as unisex are:

004 Gin Mandarine Musc by Bon Parfumeur

Paris - Édimbourg by Chanel

Easy for Ecstasy by Philly & Phill

I wear these three far more often than any of my others. They have kind of become my signature scents as well, in the sense that my family and close friends have actually started to associate these with me so much that they expect me to be there when they smell any of these.

Bon Parfumeur is a fantastic brand for unisex fragrances by the way. Most of their fragrances, if not all of them, are unisex, and they're colour coded by their general vibe (fresh vs floral vs spicy etc). The concept is that you should mix & match two of them, but in my opinion they work as standalone fragrances as well.

Other than that, I can 100% recommend trying out Hermès fragrances, because the majority of them are unisex, and also quite special and not at all boring. Their Jardins line, for example, is completely unisex if I'm not mistaken, and I'd recommend trying all of them.

But cheaper brands have great unisex options as well - after all, Calvin Klein started the whole thing in the 90's with ck one, and it's still iconic (the other ones in the ck one line are hit and miss, though I love ck be and ck everyone was also good). And Zara is also always worth a try, especially in the men's section, and the ones they developed together with Jo Malone (for example Vétiver Pamplemousse).

I would recommend just trying things that catch your eye, regardless of what section they're placed in. Try to figure out which notes you like, and - more importantly - which ones you don't, and go from there. For example, I know by now that I prefer green and woody and slightly spicy notes and do not like sugary and super floral fragrances. But it took me a while to figure out what fragrances do not work for me and why.

I loved binomial coefficients, especially in combinatorics, with a side of geometry. Wouldn’t find my way around them anymore these days though. 😅

I’m really good at mental arithmetic, likely because one of my professors started his lectures with everyone standing up and solving mental math problems - and you were only allowed to sit down after you got one right.
