This is a redraw of a piece i did a year ago that I have been wanting to do for ages to see how it would look with my more improved skills.

The imagery of Elain cutting her wrong bond to Lucien with Truthteller which can unmake things to choose love over fate has always been very powerful to me so i wanted to capture that along with Azriel’s absolute worship of her because AS HE SHOULD LOL…but i also really believe in the books we will find out that Azriel has been her true soulmate all along.

We couldn't believe how strong the Elriel vibes were in Taylor and Travis's engagement photos and just couldn't resist putting together this roundup. Maybe we're biased, but given all these similarities, is it possible that Elriel artists and commissioners are Seers too?? 😉

Azriel didn’t hesitate to face certain death to save Elain. And Elain—gagged, chained, and wrists burning with violet steel—still devoured the sight of him, as if she couldn’t quite believe he’d come for her.

This scene exemplifies the pull between these two, and how well they work in harmony. Even bound, Elain still fought alongside Azriel, slamming her foot into the hound’s face until it released him, keeping both Azriel and the innocent Briar alive. Azriel’s focus never wavered: get her out, get her to safety, no matter what it cost him.

Two souls moving in tandem, even through chaos. Light and dark. Strength and quiet ferocity. Theirs is a partnership born from trust, sacrifice, and a bond deeper than words.

Endlessly thankful to @northyme for capturing this heart-stopping Elriel moment so beautifully! Every update took our breath away, culminating in this stunning piece.

This beautiful fanart captures the way I've pictured how Elain became the home that Azriel — a tired soldier with a haunting past — will always return to. She is his comfort, peace, and the light that complements his darkness in the most admirable manner.

And set in a romantic wedding aesthetic, Azriel adorns Elain's finger with a beautiful ring that was made of love, and for love and beauty, Elain should wed.

Death and the Maiden | @elriel-month

🗡️🌸Azriel and Elain, darkness and light, blade and bloom. Bound by fate, and by steel.

He is night, blade drawn, wielding Gwydion, the sword of childhood dreams.

She is dawn, stepping from shadow, wielding Truth-Teller, the blade of prophecy.

“Gwydion, the last of the magic swords, had been dark as night and as beautiful. How many games had Cassian played as a child with Rhys and Azriel, where a long stick had been a stand-in for Gwydion? How many adventures had they imagined, sharing that mythical sword between them as they slew wyrms and rescued damsels?”

“But as a black blade broke through the king’s throat, spraying blood, I realized someone else had. Elain stepped out of a shadow behind him, and rammed Truth-Teller to the hilt through the back of the king’s neck as she snarled in his ear, ‘Don’t you touch my sister.’”

Gwydion and Truth-Teller, Made and Unmade. Wielded by light and dark. Fated to balance one another.

“I saw the painting in my mind: the lovely fawn, blooming spring vibrant behind her. Standing before Death, shadows and terrors lurking over his shoulder. Light and dark, the space between their bodies a blend of the two. The only bridge of connection … that knife.”
