The incredible thing about this shot is that, we always see Elsa using her powers when she feels like she’s in danger. She almost always loses her cool and can’t control it, which makes it so that her ice powers really burst in all directions. But here, she’s concentrated. She knows what she’s doing. And in just one wave of her arms, she’s capable of doing *that*. I don’t want to say Elsa is just... very OP when she’s on a flight or fight mode, but she really is OP when she knows what she’s doing. With one swoosh, she’s able to make something that big... which shows how much she has grown.

Why are you so against a magic origin story?

A number of reasons. I think that explaining her magic will just make it less “cool” (pun unintentional). Part of what makes her powers cool (and just magic in general) is not understanding them. Well, we can understand how they work (slowing down molecular movement), but knowing where they came from would be grounding them in a way as to make them somewhat boring. Not knowing why she has them is part of what makes her interesting. And explaining it takes that away.

Additionally, any explanation they give cannot possibly be better than any of the ones already theorized in the fandom. We have so many of them; is she descended from an ancient sorcerer? was she cursed by an evil witch? maybe it’s part of a prophecy? what if she was granted this power by the gods? what if she IS a god? Anything that Disney gives us will inevitably be disappointing and less interesting than the myriad of ideas we already have.

Also, having the entire story centered around that just doesn’t sound that interesting. There are far more interesting stories that could be told, and hopefully will be told.

But why does elsa have power to make clothes different she had clothing powers on top of ice?

Literally a friend and I had a debate about that the other day, my theory is that she can dissolve any fabric with tiny tiny tiny erosive snowflakes so basically she destroyed the coronation dress and created the ice dress in the same move

For the frozen fever ice dress that turns green I have the theory that she changed the density of ice. Maybe it changes its color as well, just like the ice palace changes color following her emotions.

Does Elsa's ice melt? Like is it just ice or is it magic ice? She shoots ice from her hands, so that parts probably magiccc uhh idk I guess I just wanna know more about her powers, do you have any ideas?

Here’s my theory: (TED TALK AHEAD Y’ALL) For everything’s that’s alive, I’m pretty sure it never melts, as long as it’s reiterated. I mean, Olaf melted at the end of Frozen 1 because the plot was happening in July so he melted in the sun but once Elsa created a magic cloud that would follow him anywhere, he got new snowflakes permanently so I guess that as long as Elsa’s alive, anything she brings to life can’t die.

For everything’s that objects (structures, fountains sculptures, the ice palace, etc) i’m pretty sure that the creative team at WDAS went “….*shrugs* meh!” because apparently magic explains everything and Elsa’s ice palace is still here whatever the season which makes 0 sense.

I had a chat with a IRL friend of mine once, we realized that Disney purposely didn’t draw the line about her powers for the sole reason that if they do say “Elsa can’t X”, lots of things will remain unexplained. Can she also manipulate water, as ice technically is water and wind? Can she make ice explose? Can she stay days with an empty stomach as long as she’s in a fresh environment?? Who nose.

At this point and if they don’t plan to draw a line in Frozen 2, Elsa is literally a goddess AND a queen and I love it

Elsa and magical objects

So after watching the episode “Happiness Is...” from Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure (or Tangled: the Series for those not following it), I thought about how everyone was affected by this idol that gave them happiness when they touched it.  And it reminded me of something I’d thought about regarding Elsa.  So...

I have a theory that Elsa avoids touching magical objects - or to be precise, she avoids contact with objects that convey some sort of magical affect upon the person who touches it.  She is hesitant to allow her bare skin to come into contact with magical objects for fear that her own powers might react in an unpredictable manner (as we have seen in Frozen).  She also fears the object’s influence and does not want to let her mind or body become captive to the foreign magic; it’s already taxing enough to have the power of winter swirling inside her body constantly.

The best way I can explain how I arrived at this idea is by pointing to Gandalf from Lord of the Rings.  In the movie version of The Fellowship of the Ring, he is about to pick up the One Ring in Bilbo’s house before he jerks his hand away.  It is evident that he fears the power of Sauron and the ring, and he does not want its power to influence him.  He is a powerful wizard, but the One Ring is an exceedingly powerful object that clearly influences those who do not even possess it.

Likewise, I imagine Elsa would desperately want to avoid anything resembling the One Ring.  If she sees an object that possess magical properties which can be conveyed through direct contact, she will stay away from said object and adamantly refuse to touch it.  Her hands - ever sensitive - are the first to detect foreign magic when she reaches out to pick it up.  I believe her own powers could act as a warning, stirring deep inside her when there is the possibility of magic that can corrupt her nearby.

Anyhow, I wanted to share this idea.  Does anyone else have similar thoughts?
