In its offer of recognition, the question drew a gentle smile.
“We all wear a mask, don't we?” Her head tilted with candor. “The question is not if, but why. To guard or to manipulate—”
A shoulder lifted. “Perhaps even something between.”
“But what you see, this…allure—” a gesture swept along her form, “my mother named it shame, dressed in etiquette. Wielded it when it suited her. Judged harshly where it would not.”
Her expression touched something weary, thoughts turning inward with memory. “There was once an arrangement. A young knight. I was meant to adorn his life. Desire was his compass. And submission, my supposed virtue.”
“Then came darkness—corruption.” Violet eyes dimmed.
“Expectation became armor. Offer became exile.”
A palm settled at her chest, fingers curling to flesh.
“So where you may find temptation, know autonomy has come to grip ever more tightly. It now yields only to knowledge, and to those who seek what lies beyond the mask.”

So, a pet huh? I, the unoriginal shit I am, immediately thought of a dog 😂 A big, cute fluffy dog (I'd also go for Ouba, since she is the most adorable dog ever, but i want to be original). Maybe a border collie? And they'd name it Bucky, because really, who has an energy to deny that Lucas is a marvel fan?
But my sister hasn't got a bad idea either - when i mentioned it, she said they'd have snake and name it Berry, which yeah, is actually a great idea 😂😂

YES! I've been meaning to write this out for a while.
Xal'atath is an ally
She is using death + Void magic for her Ascended Nerubians as an experiment to give us back our autonomy. A way for us to actually have some chance at winning in an eventual battle with the Void. And revenge for what she went through.
Elf immortality?
Night Elves are Blizzard's golden children. Xally's end game might be related to restoring immortality for all elves. That also digs into speculation that the Sunwell/Silvermoon will get attention in Midnight. Possibly even reconciliation with the Ren'dorei mixed in.
The Void has a plan
I'm still digging into lore re: plotholes, but unlike Lovecraft's take on the Void, I like to think Blizzard's spin on cosmic horror isn't as hand-wavy. So far it's been tied to plot vs. just exploring existential dread and the unknowable.
The Void having hierarchy with void lords and old gods isnt just chaos, there's intention there. And intention means we can actually do something about it vs. using lore to be mysterious and never explaining anything.
The Void doesn't want to be known but can be. Corruption/madness is a roadblock, not a hard stop. It keeps us in check from figuring it out—this is Elu's whole take on the Void and why she is so reckless when it comes to pursuing that knowledge. Reward outweighs risk.

This one had the biggest repercussions, of course Elu couldn't know at the time.
She took a risk for both herself and Taelan because he believed a relic held redemption. For a disgraced paladin. For his family. For himself. She knew it might take him from her. She helped him anyway.
Sigh. Why do I write this stuff haha.

Eluvianna's eyes slid to the human. “Apart from the pragmatism...everyone has an opinion, I suppose.”
Violet daggers tangled with a scoff. “My...sentimentality is for prose alone, nothing more. And what about ‘determined’? ‘Impartial’?”
“Really. ‘Delusional’,” she muttered, the word slipping out of reach. “How ridiculous.”

Eluvianna is something of a fan of a particular enigmatic hero who used his power to cloud the minds of his enemies. Many of his unusual tales can still be found in visual novels scattered across Azeroth...and beyond.

She never truly intends to impersonate the legend. But the idea of leaving recipients bewildered—perhaps even mildly entertained—is a source of endless amusement.
