But can we have something slightly more true to my experience and have embalmers, medical examiners, and aforementioned monsters and serial killers do their thing to a soundtrack of 80s rock and metal?

Can you imagine the cinema of one of those scenes being played to Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody or ACDC's highway to hell, or metal that is wildly unintelligible in the growl but they're just jamming away anyway?
