it's actually a really brilliant show just from a musical theatre standpoint, and the narrative doesn't let Hamilton off the hook for some of his shittier actions
I mean, I have nothing against it, I’ve heard nothing but good things about it and apparently it’s doing some really cool stuff, it’s just. On my list of Broadway musicals I’d like to see, it’s probably coming in last, not because there’s anything wrong with it but because the subject matter frankly holds very little interest for me. If I shell out for plane tickets and hotel tickets and Broadway tickets, I’m watching something I’m fired up about, not something I'm personally disinterested in that focuses on a historical figure I find deeply overrated.
But, like, I am thrilled that people are this enthusiastic about a historical musical! I’m glad it’s pushing boundaries and making strides! I’m a little bemused that it’s about Hamilton, is all.

I really enjoy Cats and there are certain songs that will always have a special place in my heart. That said, I am a little boggled that it became one of the longest running shows on broadway
point!
emberfiredrake I thought you would appreciate this cosimasscarf have you watched X Company yet? Because you should. There are important acting/character development stuffs that NEED to be addressed.

Regeneration trilogy by pat barker. Gay, mentally ill ww1 poets!!

Tamora Pierce is my favorite fantasy author, and her Emelan universe (Circle of Magic, The Circle Opens, etc.) are all about found family feelings with little to no romance (sliiiiight stuff in later books, but it's not the focus of the plot)

The Monstrumologist if you want Victorian-era supernatural horror (think SPN crossed with Sherlock Holmes but without the fandom baggage of each), Thieftaker by D.B. Jackson if you want pre-revolutionary Boston urban fantasy with crime solving

And Then There Were None by my home girl Agatha Christie, The Ghost Road by Pat Barker (this is the last book in the trilogy)

Ohhhh have you seen Slings & Arrows? That's one of my FAVORITE Paul Gross projects (the other is Due South, but I realize that has a certain niche appeal)
NOOO, unfortunately I haven’t [ ‘casually opens an IMDB page’ ] Would Slings & Arrows be considered a comedy? The plot summary & box cover looks quite amusing---- I may just have to add it to my list~
emberfiredrake replied to your post “k this new tumblr update is so hideous wtf”
It's so obnoxious especially when comment threads are just intuitive? We're used to seeing them, reading them, and the fact that Tumblr just wants to throw that all out shows a serious ignorance for the way people respond on the internet
y e p. i dont rly know how to respond to this bc u said it. the tumblr staff needs to stop giving the site ‘updates’ that people don’t want/need at all and maybe focus on the things that REALLY need to be fixed like honestly the posts looked fine before so why change it? i mean to me it doesn’t look good at all so why would they even bother
emberfiredrake replied to your post “k my friends didnt know what broadway is”
how?????????
idek.... like she was like “i want to be a dancer but i also want to be a singer” so i was like “bro u could go on broadway and be part of the chorus” and then there was like this silence and then someone said what. and i had to tell them what broadway is.
