I have a gorgeous velvet jacket that has been my fall & spring coat for at least a decade. I bought it second hand, and at this point it's getting pretty ragged around the edges.
The nap has worn off in spots, the cuffs are threadbare, and a few seams have ripped. But I love this jacket and haven't been able to find a worthy replacement.
So I started embellishing it. Patches on the tears and embroidery to cover up the wear. I'm not sure how far I'm going to go, but this is where I am right now.
I've covered about a quarter of the back with flowers, mostly lazy daisies with french knot centers.
There are other random bits of embroidery I don't have good pictures of.
This is a partially completed patch on the shoulder, where my purse strap had worn completely through the fabric. I might add more fabric to reinforce it, but probably not any fancy embroidery, since I don't think that would last long under my purse.
I also used some scraps of velvet to patch one cuff, but I'm not happy enough with how that turned out to show it off.
