Learn about the lace embroidery of Cyprus in this short video. Lefkara is very similar to Hardanger - pulled threads and needle lace. The main difference is Hardanger deals with strictly square shapes, whereas with Lefkara you can do curves. I am so incredibly excited because after waiting several years I finally got a book on Lefkara lace: “ Lefkara Lace Embroidery: Historical Development” by Androula Hadjiyiasemi It is insanely rare and expensive. I just about fainted when I saw it on amazon today for $30. It has been anywhere from $300 to over $1,000 on amazon for years. So it’s Christmas in May for me today :) Will be camped out by the mailbox until it comes. :D
