hii cutie,, can i request a seth x jacob's little sister! reader. like jacob brought her to a bonfire because the imprints found about her because embry and quil were arguing over who she liked more. when she DOES come to the bonfire seth imprints on her and he's like really shy and embarrassed about it and embry and quil tease him about imprinting on 'baby black'. i feel he would be really cute and respectful about it.

“Dude, she obviously likes mw better, she took the food i handed her first” Embry said, barging into Sam & Emily’s house as usual, right after patrol, following along with Quil, Jacob not too far behind them.
“She only took it first because you were taking up her whole line of sight!” Quil shot back, shoving Embry playfully, making him stumble while he took a seat at the table next to Seth and Paul, in which they stared at him with confused expressions, very unsure of what the two were talking about, Seth tilting his head to the side, trying to make sense of what was going on.
“Ypu two jus’ gonna leave us out or are you gonna tell us who’re talking about?” Paul commented, Jacob anf Embry joining them at the table, immediately digging into the food laid out for them.
“They’re talking about my lil sis, she unfortunately came home from school early, and ran into them when we were about to go out.” Jacob replied as Paul’s gaze switched to him when he spoke up, along with Seth’s.
“Oh yeah? How old is she?” Paul replied, he wasn’t aware of Jacob having a sister, although, they didn’t go around Jacob’s place much. “She’s 14, almost 15.”
That caught Seth’s attention, he suddenly seemed more interested in the topic, considering Jacob’s sister was around his age, scooting his chair slightly closer.
“Cool, bring her to a bonfire.” Paul said bluntly, surprising them all. “What?” Jacob said abruptly, he did not think that was a good idea, considering the pack could get.. rowdy. “C’mon, man, if she met Embry and Quil, she should meet the whole pack, don’t play favorites.” Paul convinced, and Jacob caved—barely.
Then came the night of the bonfire.
You strolled into their cozy environment, the fire cracking and everyone sitting around the bonfire, Jacob trailing slightly behind her, grumbling about how stupid Embry abd Quil are for opening their mouths. Soon, unintentionally, her and Seth lock eyes.
Cue—imprinting, his eyes softened as he saw their future, their soft moments together, the romantic ones and all, and not long after, the whole pack just realized what happened.
“Wait. Wait wiat wait wait, WAIT.” Embry said, looking between the two, seth looking a bit dazed while you looked confused. “Did Seth just imprint on baby black?!” Quil chimed in.
“Imprinting? What.. even is that?” You said, very confuzzled. Tilting your head to the side slightly, a habit both you and Seth shared when you were confused, unbeknownst to you two. “It’s best if Seth tells you, when he’s ready, of course.” Sam commented. “Jake, how could you not tell your sister what imprinting is??” Jared spoke up, in which earning no response from Jacob.
“Aww, look at Seth, finding his imprint so early!” Embry nudged him teasingly, earning a nudge back from Seth “hey, stop it..!” He muttered, already stiff and fidgety.
—————————-
Throughout the whole night, they didn’t exactly speak, you can feel his eyes on you throughout the night, though.
And soon, you two were the only ones by the fire, surprisingly, Jacob left you alone.
You and Seth could barely make eye contact, frankly, it was Seth who could barely make eye contact. You on the other hand, were perfectly fine.
You decided to break the awkward silence. “So, imprinting, what’s that?” You asked, scooting over at a close but respectful distance.
“Uh.. it’s… in a simple way to put it..” Seth spoke up softly, his eyes darting anywhere but her, “‘s like.. finding your soulmate, y’know?” Realizing how that sounded, he quickly added more to ease her thoughts, he doesn’t wanna think she’s forced into being in a romantic relationship with him. “B-But it doesn’t have to be romantic! If you don’t want it that way..” He explained. “It’s really up to you..” he finished shyly, finally looking at her properly.
“Mmh.. well, we’ll talk more, yeah? And we’ll see from there.” You said, nudging him playfully as Jacob called them and told them to get inside. You stood up first, offering your hand to him.
oh what I would've given for him to have stayed in the twilight cast...
obviously, click for better quality and reblogs are appreciated!
the longer I've been staring at this the less they look like krys hyatt's embry to me, so just squint... and it'll be fine..! regardless, the process of this was super fun even though it took me FOREVER because of uni, but I was able to crank through it because of holiday break!
the top left embry's face looks kinda like a manequin from afar because I sped through it, but at least I am self aware about it (sobs). they also kind of look like different people now that I really look at it but WHATVER!!!
ANYWAYS, i hope you like my embrys (embries? lol), more soon... maybe... if lord uni allows it...
embry imprinted on you on a day you could barely move.
you were curled up in the back of the library, hidden between the nonfiction shelves, face tucked into your knees because your meds hadn’t kicked in and the pain was too loud to ignore.
you were trying so hard to be quiet. then someone crouched in front of you, the scent of pine and warmth filling your senses.
and when you looked up, his eyes were already broken for you.
his first instinct was to touch, to comfort, but the second he saw your expression, he stopped cold.
“can i…?” he whispered, voice low, heart in his throat.
you nodded, barely, and he knelt beside you for hours, not even asking your name. just being there.
you didn’t know what imprinting meant at first, but embry explained it gently, without pressure.
“it doesn’t mean you owe me anything,” he promised. “it just means i’m always gonna be here, if you want me to be.”
and somehow… that meant everything. no expectations. just him.
embry is the kind of person who learns your body language better than anyone.
the way your eyebrows knit when a wave of pain starts building. the tremble in your fingers when it’s a bad day. the tightness around your mouth when you’re trying to push through it.
he notices it all, and never makes you say it out loud.
he’s a gentle giant when it comes to your pain.
always warm hands on your back, a strong arm around you, carrying you when you can’t walk another step, whispering,
“i’ve got you. just lean on me, sweetheart.”
he stockpiles your medications like a soldier preparing for battle.
always making sure you’re not running low, double-checking expiration dates, calling pharmacies if there’s an issue.
he’ll stay on hold for hours if it means getting your refill in time.
you once woke up from a pain nap to find him curled on the couch with your insurance card in one hand and his phone on speaker. “yeah, hi—sorry, just wanna make sure her prescription gets covered. she needs it.”
on nights where the pain makes you sob uncontrollably, clutching blankets, biting your lip raw, rocking to find some kind of peace, embry never flinches.
he’ll pull you into his lap, wrap his arms around your body, and just hold you.
“you’re not alone. you’re not weak. i’m here. i’m right here, baby.”
he says it like a mantra, over and over, heart breaking every time you cry harder into his chest.
and when the pain finally starts to dull, whether from meds or sheer exhaustion, he presses soft kisses to your hairline.
“there you go. that’s it. just breathe. you made it through. i’m proud of you.”
embry learns your pain scales like second nature. he knows what a “6” looks like in your eyes, what a “9” sounds like in your voice, and when it’s a “10” but you’re still pretending it’s fine.
“baby,” he’ll murmur, crouching beside you. “please, don’t hide it from me. you don’t have to do this alone. let me carry it with you.”
he never sees you as a burden. not once.
you tried to pull away once, whispering through tears that he deserved someone without this much pain, someone “normal.”
he nearly shattered.
“yoy are not a burden,” he said, voice hoarse. “you’re mine. you’re everything. if you hurt, i hurt. and i’ll stay, every single day. no matter what.”
you once overheard him praying to the moon. not asking for your pain to go away, but just asking for the strength to carry you through it.
“let me be enough for her. let me help. let her feel peace, even if just for one night.”
sometimes, when the pain becomes too much to bear and you collapse into tears, embarrassed, he pulls you close and tells you:
“cry. scream. cuss the universe out if you need to. you’re allowed to be mad. you’re allowed to hate this. but you’re never allowed to believe you’re weak. baby, you’re the strongest person i’ve ever met.”
he gets into little rituals with you:
heating pads always warm and ready.
your favorite playlist queued up to help distract you through pain flares.
cuddling under weighted blankets with his arms around you, his chest a solid heartbeat against your back.
bringing you water, snacks, meds, tea, soft fuzzy socks. everything before you even ask.
and he brings little joys into your life when everything feels dark.
tiny flowers pressed into your journal pages.
handwritten sticky notes with dumb wolf jokes or puns like: “howl you doing today, beautiful?” and he draws a tiny wolf howling under the moon next to it.
polaroids of the sunrise or your smile when you weren’t looking.
when you’re feeling okay, he still treats you like you’re made of stardust.
lifting you into his arms like you weigh nothing, spinning you around with a goofy grin, peppering your face in kisses.
“look at you, beautiful. sunshine incarnate. still the strongest person i know.”
the pack adores you, but they learn quickly not to overwhelm you.
embry makes sure they understand your limits, your space, your needs. they become fiercely protective in their own way, but embry is your guardian wolf. always has been.
sometimes, when you cry just from sheer exhaustion, from the grind of living like this every day, embry will lie down beside you and cry too.
not because he’s weak. but because he feels it all. and he refuses to let you cry alone.
you once asked him, in a broken whisper, “are you sure you still want this?”
and he looked at you like the question shattered him.
“i didn’t choose to imprint on you,” he said. “but if i could choose? i’d choose you. every. damn. time.”
on especially hard days, embry uses his wolf heat to help you.
he presses his body against yours, radiating warmth that eases your muscles better than any heating pad ever could. he’ll let you drape across him like a heating blanket come to life, whispering,
A/N: my sequel to @fandomfaery "A Library's Love Note".
okay, I know this is angsty but I'm upset about the Wuthering Heights movie coming up and in a mood, okay? I'm a melodramatic bitch.
Random thought, a wolf reading his imprint’s despair filled journal would be the equivalent of Edward reading Bella’s mind during her New Moon depression. Just totally painful, a level of shame over hurting her that he can never truly get over. But they do, for the most part, get over it and leave the bad stuff behind. I have an idea of how it all end and it’s a happy one.
Pairing: Embry Call x Reader (female; Native American).
Three months.
It had been three months since Embry Call had last looked in your direction and somehow, it felt like even longer than that.
You'd been counting seconds like an eternity, feeling every beat like an aching wound. Time didn't heal wounds this time. As it passed, you only hurt more and more. Three months had become eternity in your head, trapped in the questions you'd been asking and the silence that answered back.
What had happened?
Why couldn't he even look at you?
Why had the letters stopped?
Truthfully, it wasn't like you and Embry had actually hung out that much or talked a lot. You’d never talked in person at all. After all, he had his old friends, Quil and Jacob, and now his new friends, Sam Uley and his crowd. And you were a perpetual loner that spent most of your time either in the library or on the beach or in the woods, always with your CD player and a book and always by yourself. Those books had been the first thing you’d had in common, books and the letters hidden within them. For nearly a whole year, you'd swapped old paperbacks with little love notes hidden inside. Little at first. Sweet and simple. But in time the letters had become longer, deeper. You'd told him things you'd never told anyone else and now...
Now there was nothing.
The last book you’d lent him, Jane Eyre, had been returned suddenly and without warning sooner than usual, simply left on your desk in English Literature.
No note.
Every letter you'd slipped into his locker or mailbox had gone unanswered.
He skipped English every day since and you didn't share another period at all, not even able to catch him in the halls. You used to always see him around, looking at you with those pretty, dark eyes, like ink. Like new moons. But now he was just gone, searching and never finding his familiar face. When you'd finally worked up the courage to ask Jacob Black what was going on, he had sympathy for certain but no answers to give you.
"Did I do something wrong?"
That last letter...
The one you'd asked him to meet you in your favorite spot in the woods, far off the reservation, even drawing a little map. Telling him that you wanted to talk in person. That you wanted to tell him something.
You'd waited.
Until the sun had set and twilight faded and the world became a cold, moonless night. You waited and waited and waited and…
He never showed.
And you'd been wondering since if that last letter had been the cause of all of this.
"No, no, he…” Jacob smiled sadly, looking away from you. “I don't know what's happened to Em but it's got nothing to do with you, Y/N."
And so you'd been lost in silence since, giving up on answers. The only person who could have given them to you was the one person who wouldn’t give them. So you gave up. Even though you still asked yourself questions, and letters, even though you still re-read the ones he'd once written and wrote more still.
You just didn't send them.
Instead, an empty journal became letters to a ghost, writing page after page of love letters until your skin was ink stained and the thick hardback journal was nearly full in only those three months.
You had stopped going to English Lit too, because seeing his empty desk hurt too much.
You had stopped slipping the notes and searching for him in crowds.
You just...stopped.
Getting through the motions was easy. There were no friends to worry about you, your mom had died years ago and your dad just worked all of the time. So it was easy enough to just get up, go to school, and hide as much as you could, just...existing.
Besides that, all you ever did these days was listen to music and wander the woods and write.
Truthfully, you weren't supposed to be in the woods at all. Especially not this far out. Animal attacks had been going on for months, missing hikers and mauled bodies found, some never found at all. There were missing persons posters and warning notices posted pretty much everywhere now. Nothing had happened on the reservation, which was probably why the council had been so strict about people leaving since it seemed to be the only safe place, and you'd tried to listen, hiding out in the woods but never going too far.
Truly. you tried.
But seeing Embry hanging out with Uley's gang on the beach, far from their view as you watched them goof off, had hurt too much.
He never looked at you…
Never noticed you were even alive anymore…
But looking at him was heartbreak itself and, without even thinking about it, you'd taken off into the woods, running towards your favorite spot. It was just a little clearing, maybe a little ways off the reservation, full of flowers with a single oak tree in the middle of it. Beneath that tree, you'd spend hours reading and writing and dreaming, tracing the initials that lovers had carved into the trees over the years. You'd been dreaming of it for years, falling in love with someone and carving your own initials into the tree together and maybe you'd hoped...you had thought...
What does it matter now?
Sitting in the dancing shadows of the branches, you slipped out the journal and began to write again.
"Embry,
I miss knowing your soul. For a year, I had it in my head that I knew your soul better than any other on earth. Something only I knew, coveting everything about it. I knew it. I loved it. I loved every little thing about you thatI managed to learn and now...now I feel like I don't know you at all. Over and over I've read your letters, trying to find some clue, some answer to what happened, and there's nothing.
Nothing but silence.
Nothing but loving you and hurting for it.
And I don't know if I can keep loving and hurting for someone who won't even look at me anymore.
Why won't you look at me?"
SNAP.
You stopped, ink jumping on the page as something caught your attention. Something in the woods.
Silence..and then another sharp snap, jumping this time as something moved past you, so quick you didn’t even see it as the journal flew out from your hands. A bird. Just a bird, you tried to tell yourself, hands shaking as you reached for the journal and...nothing.
There was nothing.
The journal was gone, standing up and looking frantically, heart thudding in your chest as those careful, comforting excuses began to weaken in your mind.
“Who’s Embry?”
Whipping around, you were shocked to see a woman standing in the clearing. Pale and perfect, the woman was a wild thing with red hair and ragged clothes and bare feet. Somehow she was the most beautiful and the most hateful thing you’d ever seen all at once, casually flipping through the journal without even a clue of how she’d got it.
“W..what?”
“I mean,” she grinned, so sharp and sweet. “He must be something special to you, considering all the pathetic little love letters you’ve scribbled to him. A paramour?”
You stepped back, shaking from both the fear and humiliation of the moment, heart trembling beneath your ribs so hard it hurt. The woman paused, head slightly cocked as though she were listening to something, a cruel grin blooming across her pretty, pretty, hateful little face.
“A former paramour,” she decided. “Poor lamb! Did he break your little heart? Is that why you’ve come to the woods to weep?”
“Stop it,” you gasped through the fear, finally finding your voice. “Just stop it!”
She laughed and tossed the journal to your feet, somehow making it from all the way across the clearing in a single throw.
Who was she?
Why was she here?
Had she appeared from the ether just to torment some girl in the woods? Maybe the universe had sent her to rub salt into wounded hearts but it didn’t matter. You were taking the journal and going home, kneeling down to snatch it back from the earth. But in the single heartbeat that it took, in the only second you’d taken your eyes off of her, the woman moved. Soundlessly. Quickly. Her shadow fell over you in an instant, gaze snapping to meet her eyes...her red eyes…
Like poppies and pomegranates...like blood…
A pale hand reached out slowly, unable to move as she played with your hair, twirling it between ice cold fingers.
“Poor, lost little lamb, have you wandered away from your shepherd in all your heartbreak?” she mocked, smiling again, her hand moving to grasp your throat. A scream was strangled as her grip tightened and her grin grew colder, crueler. “I can make all your hurt go away...”
Eyes began to go black as she stole your breath, your voice, head spinning and...and a scream that wasn’t yours filled the air. Suddenly thrown back, you hit the tree and fell to the earth with a painful, almost desperate gasp of air. It took a moment for the world to stop spinning, clutching grass between your fingers as you clawed into the earth and looked up.
A wolf…
It was a wolf standing over you, almost protectively, snarling at something you couldn’t see beyond its giant form. Gray fur spotted with black, its sleek body huddled close, warming your shivering form as it watched something, snarling still.
The woman appeared, eyes alight as she hissed furiously, glaring at the wolf.
It looked back only once, glancing towards you for only a moment...those eyes...those new moon eyes, so much like Embry’s…
It couldn’t be.
And yet you were reaching out to touch his face gently, as thought you didn’t fear anything at all, and the wolf looked at you still, his dark eyes wide and almost tearful. Bedtime stories filled your mind, the stories your dad used to tell you about wolf warriors and monsters in the woods, a single question slipping from your lips. Not the ones you’d been silently asking over and over for months, but the only one that mattered in this moment:
“Embry?”
Wolf song filled the woods, more wolves coming towards you.
And suddenly the woman was gone and so was your wolf, a gray blur racing after her into the darkness. You didn’t wait for the answers you’d feared would never come. Stumbling to your feet, you broke into a run and followed the path you knew far too well, running, running, running through the woods until the reservation was in sight. There was a sense of safety as you passed the old sign welcoming you to La Push, only stopping once you’d crossed that invisible boundary. Looking back, you stood alone in the road, not certain of what you expected to see.
A wolf…
A monster with red, red eyes…
A boy you loved…
But there was no one there, nothing but you and the shadows and the small sliver of moonlight that had managed to break through the dark clouds, silver cast across your skin. The pain of the attack was starting to get to you as the adrenaline faded, bloodstains and dark, throbbing bruises all over your body, clothes torn and hair tangled.
You didn’t stay long.
Walking home, you slipped into the dark and quiet house, knowing that your dad was working nights. There was no one to hear you cry in the shower or catch you as you tended to your own wounds with shaking hands. Alone. You were alone in the dark house, far away from the monsters. Crawling into bed, sleep never came to you. Lately you’d taken to writing letters if you couldn’t sleep, but the sudden realization that you’d left the journal back in the woods hit you harder than you’d expected.
There was no going back for it.
You didn’t know if you’d ever go back to the clearing again, imagining the journal, all of your unsent love letters, rotting away on the forest floor, becoming earth and seed and wildflowers.
So you didn’t write.
And you didn’t sleep.
You simply stayed awake through the long night and listened to the wolves singing in the woods, wondering why you’d never really noticed it before…
~
Morning came over the forest.
And with the sun came the silence, danger chased out for a night as wolves became boys again. Just boys. Ones who had once had hopes and dreams and things beyond this unspoken war. A single boy broke away from the pack, thinking of the things he’d once had, the things he’d been forced to leave behind for a war he never wanted.
His friends.
His relationship with his mother.
His whole future.
And Y/N...his Y/N.
She was his, wasn’t she? He’d known it the moment he’d finally dared to look at her, just to see how badly she was hurt. Cuts and bruises mostly. Nothing broken. But in that moment, everything had changed and something, just one thing, had been given back to him. But as he flipped through the journal and realized everything he’d put her through, Embry Call asked yet another silent question, a needle in the haystack of misery he’d been building for three months:
After everything he’d done...would she even love him still?
working through the worst case of writer's block known to man so here's my brain dump of the day
"everything go okay?" your voice was soft as embry locked the front door to the house behind him. he let out a soft sigh but nodded, kicking his shoes off before he was heading over to the couch where you were curled up, a ridiculously oversized knit blanket emily has made for you a few years back thrown over your lap.
"c'mere," you cooed, shifting so you could help him lay down with his head in your lap. he remained quiet as you slipped one hand under his shirt to gently stroke your fingers up and down his back while the other hand scratched as his scalp, the combined actions resulting in embry letting out a heavy sigh of relief, "you wanna talk about it?" you asked after a few moments.
although he'd gotten much better at leaning on you for support over the years, he still wasn't the best at verbalizing when things were bothering him so you were more than prepared for him to not say anything.
"jus' hard to communicate with the two packs now," he murmured, "like i get why we need two packs but i really don't get why we haven't figured out better communication after this many years," he added, sitting up just enough to lift the blanket from between the two of you so he could settle directly on top of your thighs.
although you were shocked at how open he was in his response, a small smile curled at your lips when you heard him exhale, his eyes closing as he relaxed into your lap and the couch.
"i really think you all should listen to leah's idea about the calendar in emily's house," you mused, resuming your stroking. he nodded, humming in approval, clearly not caring about whatever was bothering him when he walked in anymore now that he was with you.
"don't gotta convince me, she's already got my vote," he mumbled against your thighs, reaching one arm up so he could rest his hand on your lower thigh next to his head, gently kneading the flesh there.
you let out a breathy laugh, "whatever you say babe," you gently squeezed his side, giggling when he huffed but made no effort to counter your teasing.
"wanna watch sinners tonight?" you asked after a moment, smiling and grabbing the remote when he hummed against your thigh.
"i love you," he mumbled as you got the tv on, his lips curling into a small smile when he heard your giggle in response to him. you threaded your free hand through his hair again, gently scratching at his scalp in the way you knew he loved.
reassuring him, you replied, "i love you too," leaning down to press your lips to his temple before sitting back up so you could get the movie on.
"always?" he asked, chuckling when you giggled again and rolled your eyes at his antics.
"till death do us part bub," you soothed, relaxing back into the couch when he squeezed your thigh, his silent way of letting you know he agreed with the vow.
I am still working on this request but to be honest, it's taking me a while because I wrote almost 2k words and then deleted it all because I hated it lol. Anyway, here's something to hopefully tide you over, beware it's kinda small.
Y/M/N = your maiden name
---------
You stared at the fish darting around the oversized tank, observing as they weaved through the various decorations placed haphazardly amongst the colorful gravel. You were completely mesmerized, as you always had been since you were a kid.
Simple things could occupy you for hours, it was something that Embry loved about you. He swore he fell in love all over again every time your face lit up when you saw an elaborate fish tank in a waiting room or a field full of grazing cattle when on a long drive. It didn't matter, you always found something to be excited about and that was something he was trying to imitate in his everyday life.
His hand rested on your thigh, using his pointer finger to trace small circles against your denim-clad leg. He was observing you, as he always does, listening to you softly humming the tune to the last song the two of you were listening to before you got to the doctor's office.
It was just a routine checkup. You had a small noninvasive surgery on your wrist two weeks prior and even though you weren't even wearing the bandage anymore Embry had insisted that he drove you everywhere. You had tried to argue that you were perfectly fine and insisted that he left for patrol. Five minutes later he came into the bathroom where you were getting ready for the appointment, kissed your cheek, and then you heard the front door close.
Triumphantly you turned your music up and finished the last of your morning routine before heading out to your car. The music was still coming from your phone as you skipped along to the beat, not paying attention to your surroundings.
So imagine to your surprise when you looked in your car from the windshield and saw Embry, sporting a shit-eating grin as he tapped his fingers against the top of the steering wheel. At the moment you were flabbergasted, however, the more you thought about it, the more you were not surprised. It was totally in Embry's character to trick you like he had. And while Embry would jump in front of a moving bus if you asked him, he tended to not listen when he thought it would benefit you.
Now the two of you sat in a pair of conjoined chairs in the waiting room, waiting for your name to be called. Your eyes drifted to his every once in a while because you could feel his gaze. And he would smile the same smile that made you fall for him in the first place and go back to watching you.
Back when you first got together the combined actions of his hand on your thigh and his eyes not leaving you would have sent you into an embarrassed fit. But now after having been together for over half a decade and having been married officially for a month, you weren't as quick to spook anymore.
Lost in your own little world you didn't notice the office door swinging open and it didn't register to you what the nurse was calling out.
“Mrs.Y/M/N”
“Mrs.Y/M/N”
“Oh wait, my mistake. Mrs.Call”
Your head snapped up at that. Had she been calling you the whole time? Embry nudged your leg and you met his gaze, this time your cheeks lighting up fiery red as heat warmed your face. You were thoroughly embarrassed now and by the smirk on Embry's face, he knew it.
“I think it's time for you to go back, …Mrs.Call '', he drew out your new last name offering you his hand as you begrudgingly stood up. Embry was biting the inside of his cheek excessively to hold in the laugh that he so badly wanted to let out.
The scene before him had been perfect.
You were so enthralled with the fish that hearing someone call out your maiden name, the same last name you had carried from birth until just a month ago hadn't registered to you in your former state of being occupied as a possibility of being you.
No, you were only brought back to a state of full consciousness by hearing your last name for only a month, the name that was his last name.
Embry prided himself on being a modern man, however hearing you being called Y/N Call drove him crazy, and he loved every second of it.
“Oh my god I’m so sorry, forgive me”, you exclaimed as you walked towards the smiling nurse all while trying to compose yourself, and not let Embry rile you up.
And while you gave it your very best effort, sometimes trying is simply not enough.
Because throughout the entire post-op appointment, Embry couldn't wipe the dumb smirk off his face, especially when the two of you would make fleeting eye contact and your face would burn bright and warm.
After being given a clean bill of health you hurried to the parking garage, trying to get away from your husband. Because even though you both knew that what had happened was not a big deal, you were making it a big deal because you had gotten momentarily embarrassed.
Huffing as you pulled the passenger door closed Embry lost it. Releasing all the laughter that he had been holding back. Normally you would revel in the sound, his laughter especially the deep belly laughter which was reserved mostly for you was one of your favorite melodies. But not this time. No, because his laughter was at your expense.
“Embry it's not funny”, you pouted, staring straight ahead as he began pulling the car out of the garage, the familiar pitter-patter of rain starting as soon as you left the protection of the concrete building.
“My sweet girl, I feel like I should hold your hand while I tell you this, but that whole situation was hilarious. Your reaction was hilarious”, he was laughing again, turning to steal glances at your reaction.
Your face twisted up as you tried to figure out a rebuttal, but you couldn't. Because he was right like he always is.
“She didn't call my name”, you grumbled, crossing your arms over your chest in a very childlike manner.
“And here I thought I knew the woman I married, you finally gonna tell me after seven years together that your last name isn't Y/M/N?”, he questioned, raising an eyebrow all the while the stupid smirk from earlier returned.
“That's exactly what I’m saying, last time I checked my last name is no longer Y/M/N. It's Call, so why would I respond to Y/M/N?”, you quirked your eyebrow up at him, waiting to hear his argument back.
Except he didn't argue.
Instead, he took your hand in his and brought it up. He placed several kisses against your knuckles and fiddled with the wedding band he had laid on your finger weeks ago.
Summary (based on the song Heather): Y/N's time spent with Embry and pack leads to romantic feelings that she develops but Embry has his eyes for another girl, a girl that she won't compare to.
Warnings: Angst, injuries, blood, depression(?), mentions of death
A/N: SURPRISE YALL!!! Just felt like writing an angst piece very quickly 😩COMMENT if you want a part 2 where maybe Embry does reciprocate her feelings 😉
Two peas in a pod, that's what Embry and I were. We did everything together, napping, running in the forest, pranking Paul, mocking Jacob, ditching patrol and so much more.
His bright smile always resonated with my shrill laughs as we joked around about stupid stuff. We fit together like two puzzle pieces, we just felt right together. A shocking realization came to me, I was madly in love with Embry Call
There was never a dull moment with him, it was bliss. It felt like a dream but dreams can't last forever.
The dream turned into a nightmare when a new girl came to school. She was, breathtakingly beautiful. She was perfect. Flawless skin, gorgeous hands, the right height, perfect hair. She turned heads wherever she strutted and it wasn't shocking that she was the new "it" girl at school.
Embry adored her, he longed for her, and I could tell. His looks in class told the story. He would smile every time she waved at him. He chose her over me when it was group projects leaving me with Jared. He smiled an awkward grin at me and I sent him a reassuring smile as a heartstring tugged.
Jared looked at me with solemn eyes as I kept my head down, disappointed that he had chosen a new girl over his lifelong friend. I scribbled on the paper and handed it to Jared before requesting to leave the room.
I stood in front of the mirror, my reflection staring back. I had to reassure myself that Embry was only being friendly and we were still the best of friends.
Reentering the class I saw them joking around. She lightly slapped him on the arm as he cracked some stupid joke, his smile beaming. I grimaced at the sight before reseating myself next to Jared and refocusing on the task at hand.
The day seemed to drag by. Embry had said that he needed to show her around the school and classes which I understood but once more I felt my heart tug as I sat alone at the lunch table.
From then on, things took a turn for the worse.
The sight of her clinging to his arms greeted me every morning, every passing period, and every lunchtime. He'd notice me and wave hi with his bright smile and I'd return it with a half-hearted grin, heartbroken by their closeness.
He'd started ditching patrols and casual strolls to spend time with her. 'I need to show her around town' my ass. Sam and everyone else brushed it off and let it slide but I was devastated by the distance between us. I felt like I was being beaten by waves of jealousy as I struggled on my jagged cliff of emotions.
After what felt like months, we finally had a normal patrol. Embry and I were partners. Just us. No her.
I shifted quickly and Embry followed suit.
"It's been so long Y/N!" He said while trotting alongside me.
"Yeah, you've been spending a lot of time with the new girl huh?" Teasing him over his infatuation with her masking my resentment.
"Yeah, you should hang out with us sometime, she's really nice and smart," I mentally eye-rolled at him being awestruck over her capabilities, "Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you but we've been flirting back and forth and I honestly think I'm ready to ask her out, what do you think y/n?"
What.
I stopped dead in my tracks, my paw not moving an inch further. The wind rustled my fur as I repeated the sudden words in my head.
"You're going to...ask her out?" I asked slowly, not letting my emotions take a grip on me.
"Yeah, we both really like-"
"Go ahead, be my guest, Embry." Scoffing as I trotted away from him, creating more distance between us.
He jogged to catch up with me, stupefied by my sudden change in demeanor.
"What's got you so worked up oh wait let me guess, you're jealous?" He asked jokingly, I stayed silent. I really did wish it was a joke, all of it.
"It's not like we've ever spent any time together these past few weeks lover boy. All because you were too busy with Ms. Perfect over there." I spat, annoyed by the joke and how close it hit.
Upset by my sudden mood change, he bit back.
"Maybe I'm with her because she's better than you, ever thought about that?"
I turned back to look at him, our eyes locking. I felt the whole world around me cave in, why now. Why did I have to imprint now.
I turned around promptly, dashing into the forest. I could hear his distant voice shouting for me to wait but I ran. I ran until my body stopped me. Walking over to a tree trunk that hid my clothes, I shifted back and changed.
'Forever: Y/N + Embry Call'
Tears flooded my eyes as memories of our time spent together rushed through my mind.
I clasped a hand over my mouth as muffled sobs left my body, my knees colliding with the dead leaves. I wished it would be just us again, I just wanted it to be the same.
Nothing was the same ever again after that day.
Embry avoided me, each attempt I made to talk to him was taken by his new interest. I was dying, physically and mentally.
The pack saw my deteriorating condition firsthand, droopy eye bags, bloodshot eyes, my monotone voice. I'd become a shell of my former self, I had nothing left.
Sam didn't allow me to patrol anymore, my body was too weak to even handle the shifting. I would just collapse if I did. This relegated me to the bedroom where I spent most of my time curled under the sheets unless Emily brought me food.
Ironic that the boy that I love so much is killing me without knowing it, why would he know anyways, he's too busy with her. I'm just his friend, his friend who's hopelessly in love.
After weeks had passed, I forced myself to go to school one last time. Throwing on a random hoodie as I didn't care what I looked like anymore, I mean why would I? Arriving at school, I saw them there. Snuggling with each other.
What a sight for sore eyes.
A lump caught in my throat realizing she was wearing his hoodie. The same one I'd always wear whenever we had those campfires on the beach, grilling hotdogs over the campfire while laughing at stupid jokes. It's stupid really, it's just a hoodie but she looks better in it than I ever would.
She'd look good in a wedding gown with him right next to her too.
Swallowing the lump, I hurried my way past them, hoping Embry would be too preoccupied. How stupid of me to even show up to school.
"Hey, y/n wait up!" Embry yelled as he jogged after me while excusing himself from her. Refusing to make eye contact, I kept my eyes on the ground and sped up, praying and hoping he'd get the hint.
I felt a hand grip my wrist preventing me from moving any further, keeping my head down to avoid questions about my physical state.
"Hey, I'm really sorry about-"
Tears pelted the ground like hail, stunned by my sudden reaction, Embry pulled me to face him.
A stunned expression was all that wore on him, my pale face, hollow cheeks, lifeless eyes, dry cracked lips were too much for. He always saw me full of life, not a walking corpse.
"What's going on y/n, why do you look like this? Have you not been sleeping? Are you sick?" He rambled on while pressing a hand to my forehead. I yanked his hand away before speaking, my voice cracking.
"Go with her Embry, you've never cared about me." I scowled before backing away. "You don't need to care about me anymore either.:
"Are you serious right now? I've always cared for you, you're my best friend." Pleading with me as he took a step closer.
"If you were my best friend, you would've seen how much I loved you, how much I needed you," my voice wavering as I continued, "how I imprinted on you."
Dismayed by my sudden confession, he struggled to process it, giving me enough time to leave the school and walk to the forest. Sobs wracking my body as I stripped myself of my backpack and leaned against a tree.
Funny isn't it, a big wolf, wrecked mentally and physically by something stupid called love. Bitter laughter escaped my mouth, I would never compare to her. He had eyes for her and her only. She was his priority, I was his liability.
I laid down, arms spread out, exhaustion overtook me. I could feel myself fading, eyelids heavy as I felt the ache in my heart increase with each fleeting second.
Closing my eyes, I wished that it would relieve me of my pain, I wished it was just a bad nightmare. I could hear distant voices like that of the pack and Embry, yelling. I felt my consciousness slip away with each passing minute. I felt myself being hoisted up in the air, too weak to open my eyes, I thought that maybe if he had loved me like he loved her, we would've still been happy.
But I knew, he wouldn't.
I wasn't her.
I wished I was her.
Maybe in a different life, he'll love me the same way.

Third Person POV
A few days later, the red headed vampire, known to Bella as Victoria, is running amuck through La Push again. Embry and Jake were on patrol when they smelled the disgusting scent of bleach. Sam, Paul, Jared and Hayley are laughing around the lunch table when the howl was given. Hayley’s head snaps up from her plate of chicken wings.
Each member of the pack drops everything that was in their hands and rushes out the door, not even giving Emily another glance, not that she minded. She knows how important that howl was. Without stopping to get undressed, Hayley runs into the trees, phasing immediately, her clothes shredding to pieces.
“Where, guys?!” She asks, quickly.
“South bound! Be careful! The Chief and Harry are searching for us again!” Embry says, running as fast as he can in the direction of Jake, who has his eye on her.
Hayley runs as fast, hoping to make it to the red-head before she makes a break for it. She tries her best to blend in with the trees, despite being white as the moon. In the distance, she sees Jacob chasing the red-head, but he slows down.
“Harry and Chief!” He says, forcing the white wolf to slow down.
They try to watch as Victoria jumps from tree to tree. They keep their distance, knowing that the humans were very close by. Hayley, after waiting for an opening, rushes between Charlie and Harry, knowing the tribe member can see her. She loses sight of the vampire, but never loses the smell, it’s everywhere.
Harry looks down and his eyes widen when her paw print is clearly visible. Charlie, never noticing the movement of the large wolf, turns around to see his best friend looking down at the ground.
“You got something, Harry?” He calls down to the La Push resident.
Harry’s eyes wander up and he shakes his head.
“Nope, nothing.”
Charlie nods and glances around again before turning forward, making his way back up the hill. The council member looks back down and uses his shoe to stomp away at the paw print, not wanting his pale face friend to see it. He then begins to walk up the hill, keeping an eye out for his wolves.
The red-headed vampire spots the group of humans and stops in a tree nearby. She notices one man bringing up the rear but staying slightly back from everyone else. She noiselessly swings down to a lower branch and watches him for a moment. Harry feels eyes on him so he slowly turns around to see...nothing but trees.
Victoria quickly runs between him and the others. When he turns back around, he sees the back of her head and he gasps softly, almost breathlessly. She smirks at him as she turns and watches as he raises his shotgun, pointing it straight at her. When he blinks, she’s standing right in front of him. She whips his gun out of his hands with superhuman speed, tilting her head to the side.
He gasps again, breath stuck in his chest. She grins, grabbing him by his shirt and holds him in the air. He stares down at her with an emotionless expression, not giving her any satisfaction of terror. She starts to slowly pull him forward but Jake spots her. The russet brown wolf smashes into her, knocking her away.
She practically throws Harry, forcing him to roll down the hill, unable to catch his breath.
“Found her!” Jake tells the pack.
“I’m here!” Hayley says, turning back around.
When Jake lands back on his feet, Victoria is standing only a few feet away. He growls and snarls, happy that the Beta of his pack is behind her. The red-head turns around and grins, spotting the pure white wolf, the only one that has kept up with her over the last few months.
“I got her.” Hayley growls before running toward her.
Jacob, not saying anything, rushes forward, hoping to grab her in the middle, but Victoria has other plans. She jumps high in the air, flipping so Jacob crashes into the white wolf, forcing her backward into a tree. A loud crunch is heard from the collision.
“Shit!” Hay growls at the sound of her head crashing against the tree.
“Then get out of the way!” Jacob snaps, rushing after the vampire again.
“Hayley! You okay?” Embry’s voice is heard.
“I’m fine!”
She gets up slowly and shakes her head to get rid of her disorientation. After a quick second, she rushes back through the trees, sniffing for the scent of bleach. With her adrenaline so high, she barely feels the pain in her skull. She makes it to the pack as they chase down the red-head but just as Hayley makes it to the front near Sam, she jumps into a tree.
“Hay! Book it!” Jacob growls.
“I’m trying!!” She snaps, running faster and faster.
She runs farther ahead than all the others, keeping up with Victoria, but didn’t take into account that the ocean was coming up quick. The red-head jumps down from the tree, missing Hayley’s sharp teeth by inches, but she keeps running. She stops at the edge of the cliff, turning toward the Beta, watching her as the large wolf runs toward her.
The red-head smirks widely and waits for the right moment before flipping backward off the cliff into the ocean below. Hayley slides across the grass into the rocky cliff area to a stop, growling as she watches the vampire land in the water.
“I almost had her!” She barks.
“Should have tried harder!” Jake spits as the pack stops outside the tree line.
“If you didn’t crash into me, I would have gotten her!!” She growls, turning toward the russet wolf.
Before Jake can answer, a scream is heard from the other side of the cliffs. All their heads snap in that direction.
“Bella!” Jake yells before transforming back into his human form beside a tree.
“Guys?” Jared speaks up. “Something is wrong with Harry…”
Harry didn’t make it. When Victoria threw him, he couldn’t breathe and had a heart attack. That was two weeks ago. Charlie had to give the news to Sue and her two kids, Leah and Seth. They also gained a new shifter that day as well. Seth didn’t take the news very well. Jared and Paul had to force him out of the house where he phased in the backyard.
It took a few hours to phase back, but he was finally calm enough to transform back into his human state. Sue, Harry’s wife, was devastated, of course, as well as Leah and Emily. Leah was close with her father so his sudden death hit her hard. Emily, being Harry’s niece and Sam’s imprint, knew the real reason behind his death.
It took her about a week to be back on her feet which none of the pack cared about, despite having the funeral a couple days before. She’s part of their pack. An imprint. They did everything they could to help around the house. They didn’t want Emily to lift a finger. Hayley cooked every meal while the boys kept the house in tip-top shape while they all still patrolled.
When Emily felt better enough to cook again, she made a huge meal for all of them. They were thankful for it and even though they all lost sleep, they wouldn’t change a thing. They want to help an imprint. She’s one of the most important people in their lives. Not too long after, Quil Ateara phased as well.
His anger from not being able to see his friends, Embry and Jake, finally hit him one day. He phased in his backyard after getting ignored by his friends for the hundredth time. Hayley and Embry were the ones who showed up first, happily explaining everything to him. He was so ecstatic that he was able to see his friends again.
After learning everything, he sat down with Hayley, apologizing to her for everything he’s said about her. They and Embry hang out a lot now, turning into the Three Musketeers since Jacob is still worried about his pale-face, leech-lover. One good thing that came out of the last few weeks is…that Jared imprinted.
He imprinted on a wonderful, shy girl named Kim who was in his history class. Apparently she’s had a huge crush on him for years and he never noticed her since she was very shy, only talking to certain people. During one of his classes, he was partnered up with her and there was an immediate imprint.
Hayley was so excited for him. It only took him a week or so to tell her everything. It was mainly because his Beta was so helpful when it came to what to say and how to say it. Kim was confused, of course, but after talking with Hayley and Sam, she eventually came to and hangs out with the pack a lot.
Now with everything almost back to normal, they had to remember one thing.
The Cullens are back in town.
The day that Harry passed away, Bella decided to go cliff diving without Jacob, almost killing herself with how strong the waves were that day. When Jacob took her home, low and behold, a Cullen was waiting for her. The future-seeing one with a nice pixie hair cut. Apparently, Bella’s leech found out somehow that she jumped the cliff, but thought she died.
The pixie Cullen and Bella both left town and went to Italy, bringing him back. When they came back to town, Bella still continued to call Jacob, but this time, Jacob wanted nothing to do with her despite him still ‘loving her’. He did leave her a note saying, ‘I miss you too. Doesn’t change anything’.
See, when he saved Bella after she jumped, he drove her home, only to smell the disgusting scent of bleach. Bella recognized the car parked nearby and jumped out, disregarding his attempts to keep her in his car. She hinted that she didn’t need his protection now that the Cullens were back. When she went inside, he had an internal battle with himself before going inside to see her.
He found out it was just the pixie-haired leech. Edward called while he was there and since Harry died not even two hours before, he told him ‘he’s planning a funeral’, allowing the vampire to believe Bella was dead. That’s when the two left for Italy. When they came back, Jacob met Edward and Bella at the treaty line, informing them that since the whole family is back in town, the treaty is once again back in play.
Bella didn’t fully understand the treaty, thinking that if she wanted to be changed into a vampire, the treaty would allow it.
It does not.
No one would be allowed to be bitten. Consensual or not. Doesn’t matter if they’re dying or not, no one is allowed to be bitten for the sake of turning in their area, including Bella. She was upset but still doesn’t understand. It’s been a little over a month since the Cullen’s came back to Forks and Charlie informed Billy that his daughter had gone to Jacksonville.
The entire pack thinks that Edward is using this chance to change Bella since she is technically out of town. They’ll have to speak to them once she’s back in town to really know for sure. For today, they’re just gonna patrol and relax, hoping that the red-head doesn’t show up, but nothing ever goes the way they want it to.
Sam, Hayley and Paul are patrolling in separate areas, using their mindlink to talk so they’re not alone. Jared and Embry have been helping Seth and Quil with phasing so they were allowed to have the night off. Jacob has been listening to his Alpha and Beta lately, with the exception of wanting to talk to Bella so they gave him the night off, making him patrol in the morning, knowing that he likes to use the afternoons to work on his Rabbit.
“Paul, I won fair and square!” Hayley says, jumping over a rock.
“You had to have cheated! There is no way you could do 104 push ups in one minute!!” He pouts, walking in his area.
“Sorry, Paul but you only did 98. Emily and Seth counted them. Even with Quil trying to stop her.” Sam says, walking around, sniffing the air. “You have to do her laundry for the month. That was the deal.”
“So not fair!” He whines. “You better sleep with one eye open!”
“You better hope Embry’s not sleeping next to me. He’s a light sleeper.” She giggles.
“Oh, that puppy dog ain’t got nothing on me.” He laughs.
Before Hayley or Sam can answer, the Beta stops in her tracks, smelling the familiar sickly smell of bleach.
“Red-Head, my way!”
Immediately, Sam and Paul run in her direction, their conversation put on hold.
“Where, Hay?” Their Alpha asks, jumping over different trees.
“Near the treaty line!”
Barely a minute later, both wolves are behind her, trying to keep up with her fast pace. In front of Hayley, running through the trees on their side of the line is the red-head. From the corner of her eye, the Beta sees the Cullens, except Edward, running along, chasing after her as well. The red-head glances behind her as she runs, noticing the wolves and vampires separated by an invisible line.
She smirks to herself before jumping back over the line, inches away from Hayley’s teeth. She growls, knowing she missed her.
“Almost had her, Hay, keep trying.” Sam says, running behind her.
It’s different than when she was running with Jacob. Her brother knows she’s trying while Jacob just yells, acting as if she’s not doing her best. Emmett, the large, muscular vampire, runs as fast as he can, seeing her on their side again.
“All ours now.”
He jumps and grabs a hold of her shoulders and hair, but the red-head uses this to her advantage, using his momentum against him. She forces them to roll to the side and flings him off of her, right into a tree, cracking the bark. She jumps up to her feet, rushing back over to the tribe's land, running again. Hayley picks up her speed, but the red-head is always a good couple of feet ahead of her.
The Beta slows down when Paul’s sight takes over her own for a moment.
“Emmett, don’t!” The mother Cullen yells out.
The large vampire disregards her and jumps over the treaty line. Before his feet can touch the grass, Paul jumps and slams him back onto their side in a small creek. Hayley, forgetting the red-head since she’s already too far ahead, growls and turns around, rushing to her fourth in command. Sam stops beside his pack mate and glares up at the Cullen’s as they stop on their side.
Hayley runs up to stand beside her brother as Emmett glares at them, completely soaked. The Beta growls and snaps her teeth, silently informing him to stay on his side of the line, leaving the unspoken threat of what could happen to them if they dare try to cross over again.
The large vampire rolls his eyes and jumps out, climbing over a tree to stand by his family.
“Fuckin’ asshole. Thinking because we’re chasing the same leech that he can come over here.” The Beta says, watching as the family runs back toward their home.
Sam nods his wolfy head, still glaring at their side of the treaty line.
“I’m allowing this one time to pass since his feet didn’t touch but next time, fair game.”
“If they step foot on our land, I’m ripping him apart.” Paul growls, turning toward his pack members.
“The red-head is too far gone.” Hayley breaks up their thoughts, angry with herself. “She’s probably over the border now.”
“We’ll get her next time.” Their Alpha shakes his head. “Let’s get home.”
What the wolves and vampires didn’t know was that Victoria, the red head, actually watched the conflict between them with curiosity. They worked together, but that invisible line caused a fight. She’ll definitely have to use that to her advantage more often.
For the next two days, the entire pack was angry with the Cullen family. How dare they try to come onto their land! They’re lucky that Ephram Black even made that treaty, otherwise, the Cold Ones wouldn’t even exist anymore. It was now Monday morning and since Sam was on patrol, he wanted Hayley to go with Jacob to see if Bella was still human and talk to Edward.
Despite her having trouble with the school, Sam is allowing her to have one day off, along with the whole pack, since she’s doing so well with her grades and attendance. She relaxes in her truck in the Forks High parking lot, waiting for the leech-lover to show up. She could already smell two of them in the parking lot and her wolf is not having a nice time with the smell.
Jacob is leaning against his motorcycle near the front steps, waiting along with her but at a distance. She internally growls as a Volvo pulls into the parking lot, parking nearby. A minute later, Bella emerges from the passenger seat, a wide smile on her face as she catches sight of her sixth in command.
It’s clear she’s still the dull human she was before. Hayley rolls her eyes and watches the scene unfold, hoping she doesn’t have to leave her truck.
“Jake!” She says, cheerly, rushing toward the shifter.
Edward steps out and subtly pulls her back as other students watch, not recognizing the tan male in their school parking lot.
“Hey.” He nods. “Charlie said you left town.”
“Yeah. To visit my mom. Why?” She asks, confused.
“Just checking to see if you’re still human.” He admits, before glancing at the mind-reading vampire. “I’m coming here to warn you. If your kind comes on our land again…”
He trails off, allowing Edward to understand the unspoken words.
“Wait, what?” Bella asks, glancing up at her boyfriend.
“You didn’t tell her?” The shifter asks, raising an eyebrow.
“Just leave it alone, Jacob.” He tries to say, not wanting his girlfriend to know the real reason they sent her away.
Hayley glances to the side, seeing the empath and the know-it-all, pixie haired vampires climb out from their car, placing themselves close-by. She sighs and steps out of her truck, cracking her neck, knowing all the vampires can hear her. Edward, Alice and Jasper all look toward her, eyes widening slightly, seeing the Beta in their parking lot.
Jacob smirks to himself, knowing that they’re afraid of her placement in the pack. Despite her only being Beta, she has Sam and the council members’ ears. One wrong move and there could be consequences for them. Walking toward them in a pair of jeans and one of Embry’s t-shirts, knowing the pale-faces would wonder why she’s wearing shorts in rainy weather, Hayley stops by her pack member.
“Hayley.” Bella nods at her.
“Bella. Do we have a problem here?” She asks, glancing between the trio in front of her.
“Jacob was telling me something about them going onto your land.”
“Emmett and Paul had a misunderstanding, there is nothing to worry about.” Edward tries to say but Hayley scoffs.
“Misunderstanding? You’re lucky we didn’t…” She growls slightly but Jacob steps forward.
“Listen to you. Did you lie to get her out of town, too?”
“You both should leave. Now.” Edward snaps slightly, trying not to draw attention to them.
“She has a right to know.” The male shifter gestures to his best friend.
“She is the one the red-head wants.” Hayley glares at him.
“Victoria?” Bella asks, looking at her boyfriend again. “Alice’s vision.”
“I was trying to protect you.” He says, looking down at her.
“By lying to me.” Bella crosses her arms. “We’re going to talk about this, but…You. Why haven’t you called me back?”
She turns to Jacob who rolls his eyes.
“I had nothing to say.”
“Well, I have tons.” She says, walking toward his bike as he gets on but stops when her boyfriend gently grabs her arm.
“Hold on, Bella.”
“Edward, you have to trust me.” She says, looking up at him.
“I do trust you. It’s him, I don’t trust.” He glances over at the shifters.
The couple stare at one another, having a silent conversation, despite him not being able to read her mind. He finally lets go of her arm and she jogs over to Jake’s bike. He grins as she climbs onto the back, behind him.
“Lose the grin, Jacob, we’re just going for a ride.” She rolls her eyes as she takes the helmet.
Before he can start his bike, a blonde pale face approaches them, looking at Hayley, who raises her eyebrow.
“Hey, I’m Mike.”
Jake rolls his eyes slightly, remembering the teen before glancing at his Beta. She nods slightly, not caring about him.
“Hi. Can I help you?” She asks, pulling her truck keys out of her pocket.
“Yeah. What’s your name?” He grins at her.
“Taken.” She smirks, looking back at him.
“Oh.” He says, the smile dropping from his face.
Edward, knowing about imprints, and Jake, knowing her imprint, both hide their smirks, watching the small scene before them while Bella glances at an angry Jessica who is on the other side of the parking lot.
“Like…Happily taken?” Mike continues, hope lacing his voice.
“Happily and forever taken.” She answers, turning around and walking back to her truck.
“Mike…” Jake says, capturing the disappointed blonde’s attention. “I wouldn’t try that again, if you know what’s good for you.”
Before Mike can reply, the shifter starts his bike and takes off out of the parking lot toward the Uley house, the red Chevy truck following closely behind him.
