let it snow, let it snow
It is still snowing where I live in North London, I had dinner with Emelectric last night and by the time we started to make our way home there was already a layer of snow on the ground. I knew that snow had been forecasted for last night but I paid it no heed as I was very much looking forward to seeing Emelectric so adverse weather conditions came a rubbish second to me keeping my plans lol!
My lovely and beloved Pa whom I never give enough credit to, braved the cold and snow to pick me up at the station and we chatted about whether or not it would continue to snow through the night and would we be able to go to work in the morning. I had, as a precaution, taken work home with me in case we were snowed in. My job is not so important and I, not so indispensable that if I were to not go to work for one day then all would collapse, I took work home for purely selfish reasons. I was not able to take much work home from my old job as most of it was of a reactionary nature so I had to be there to be able to work., but on the rare occasion when there has been adverse weather conditions or tube strikes, I would end up awake at 6am weighing up the pros and cons of going in, considering my previous journey took me twice as long as my current one. Anyway, to cut it short I would end up worried for the whole day about whether or not I had made the right decision by going in.
In those days you only thought as far as getting to work, what about getting home? No one wants to be stuck at the office overnight. I try to make it easy on myself now, if there is any way that I may not be able to go to work in the morning then I will take work home so that I don't have to umm and ahh about what to do in the morning which is just a terrible waste of sleep time. My priority now isn't can I get to work but can I get home.
I was telling my Pa that if the streets were paved with snow in the morning then I would stay at home, this is what I woke up to, but I think I had pretty much made up my mind not to go into work today as I ended up staying up until 4am, so I secretly hoped it would snow heavily through the night, trouble is, I HAVE to go into work tomorrow...
I am...
...really looking forward to 2 of my favourite things tonight:
1) catching up with Emelectric, didn't get to see her during the hols owing to my cousin - Nemo (who may have to be renamed Miss Stush!) staying with us for Xmas
2) going to Ask for meatballs...it's been a while!
Yay stuff!! only 50 more minutes to go!
