Emergency Ranger Contact Information
It's come to my attention that a lot of trainers aren't aware of the many helpful resources avaliable to trainers just starting out or veteran alike.
Ranger Radio
There is a public access radio station for all to hear regarding any public updates from your local Ranger Base.
This would include things like: Road Closures, Natural Disaster and evacuation updates, Wild Pokemon Outbreaks (usually of any aggressive species) and many other things.
The same information is on their website with access to the live broadcast as well.
This is perfect if you're traveling and don't have a good internet connection on your Rotom Phone or other digital devices, the radio's frequency is incredibly reliable outside of caves or underground situations.
Ranger Stations and Camp Sites
This is a much more well known tip but there are still unknown things about it as well.
There are small camping and rest stops on major trails that are safe places for trainers to rest, cook, sleep and even wait out serious weather.
Most of the areas are built to be used as outdoor campgrounds with a couple of covered bench areas for resting and sturdy bathroom areas, but what a lot of trainers are unaware of is that if trainers or a group of trainers are out while a big storm or severe weather is coming, the bathrooms and covered bench areas can be used as emergency shelters.
The bathrooms are well built, and have an emergency button that can be pressed and will activate a very visible blinking light and alert the communications at your local Ranger Base.
The Benched areas are a bit different as they don't have any walls at first, until you find the emergency lever which will lower the rolled up mental walla and activate the emergency lights.
It's a perfect place to stay safe until the storm passes or a ranger is able to assist.
Pokedex Hotline
This is one of the most unknown tips that is right in the open for all trainers.
Did you know that all PokeDex devices have ways to get you right in contact with a Pokemon Ranger in an emergency?
While most Rotom phones can contact emergency services automatically through the internet or phone services, there are rare instances where you can't do either, and that's where this tip comes in:
If you turn the Rotom phone over and tap the circle (face) over 7 times rapidly, it will send out an emergency broadcast rapidly until it is received by a scanning device.
Not only does the Rotom Phone do this, but all PokeDex devices made after the first generation of Dexs had similar features built in.
The first generation of devices didn't have any long range communication built in, but they did have a type of alarm that could be activated in emergencies instead.
These are just a few of the not well known emergency tools at your disposal on our journey.
Stay safe out there, and always feel free to reach out if you need a hand!
Been a while since I've had the energy to be on here. But here I am again, advertising commissions. Here's the situation: I need to come up with $475 USD before the 5th of December. This is the lot rent for our new trailer. The down payment on which has already been paid. The only thing they're waiting on is the confirmation that that rent is paid. My living situation is less than desirable. Currently I'm staying with my aunt who is all manners of well... Not good. Not to mention her dog that is overly aggressive towards anyone that she has a problem with, and it's been made vehemently obvious that she's got a big problem with me. So here's what I'm currently offering by way of things to commission me for: -Fics. You can commission a fic for a variety of fandoms, I can provide a list upon request. Or ask for original works based on prompts you send in. Cost- 5USD per 500 words. (1 cent per word) -Icons for RP and other uses. Cost- 5 USD per episode of content. -Fandom Character letters. Cost- 5 USD (These will be digit letters, sent through google docs as a view only file that you may print) -Aesthetic boards for characters. Cost- 2.50 USD -Playlists. Cost- 2 USD per 10 songs (personally curated to a vibe of your choice) Please if you can afford to take me up on any of these offerings, your assistance would be greatly appreciated. For those of you who follow me for my fanfiction content, with hope once everything in my life stabilizes again I will be able to return to writing the stories you guys have all been looking forward to.
Find yourself a partner that will get up at 3:40am and drive you to a hospital two hours away because your best friend was in a car accident even though he has to work at 10am.
Last night I got a phone call that my best friend was in the hospital. She was involved in a 5 car accident on the highway. She doesn't have family in this state so I'm her emergency contact. The panic in my voice must have waken IRL Iwa because when I hung up the phone he was already getting out of bed and getting dressed.
He told me, "You're in no condition to drive right now, Princess. The only thing that matters is getting you to your friend, everything else can wait. Go get dressed, I'll drive."
When I started to protest, saying he had to work in a few hours and that was important too, he looked me dead in the eye and said, "No, wherever you go, I go too. You're the most important thing in my life. I'd move mountains for you."
I've never swooned so hard in my life.
My friend has 3 broken vertebrae and is having surgery as I type this. All things considered, she's very lucky, because it could have been so much worse. I saw a picture of her car when I arrived and it made me sick to my stomach. Her mom's flight arrives in a couple hours and IRL Iwa offered to pick her up because he's an actual angel. I'm extremely thankful that she wasn't hurt worse and that I have someone as dependable as IRL Iwa when things get bad.
When you need to find the nearest emergency room
Despite a childhood tendency to eat things from my mother’s stained glass workbench and run face-first into concrete barrels on the school playground, I never had to find an emergency room in a hurry as a kid. As an adult it wasn’t a tremendous issue, either- I lived close enough to the nearest hospital that I could walk there with a 104 degree fever and pneumonia, or with a kidney stone rating a 7 or 8 on the Hyperbole and a Half Improved Pain Scale, or after slicing off part of two fingertips because I didn’t take precautions when using the mandoline. But that was just luck. If I were to come down with a kidney stone where I live right now, I’d have no clue what to tell the taxi driver. I know where the big hospitals are, but the nearby ones? Nope.
Fortunately, there’s a solution.

findER is a smartphone app for iOS and Android devices in the United States. I found out about it this past Friday when I was visiting MGH’s medical museum (a fun place to visit, free admissions, and not nearly as creepy as the Mutter). If your phone has GPS and location services enabled, findER will check the National Emergency Department Inventory database for the nearest, most up-to-date locations of emergency facilities, then provide directions with a single click. Users can also search for ERs anywhere in the US by city and state, zip code, and by nearby landmarks, in case you’re visiting somewhere and want information ahead of time. And every facility listed is open 24/7, so it’s not like running a Google search at two in the morning and getting the JiffyMed that’s only available until 11.
It seldom hurts to know exactly where the nearest help is when you need it in a hurry.
Bones knows you're scared and worried right now, and that's natural. Make sure you're safe before calling to check on anyone else. Try to stay calm, darlin. Emergency services will take care of the situation, and you're gonna be okay.
In thinking for herself, Juliane [Koepcke, who survived LANSA Flight 508's crash and walked out of the Amazon jungle eleven days later] wasn't even particularly brave. Survival is not about bravery and heroics. Heroes can be perfect heroes and wind up dead. Juliane was afraid most of the time... Survivors aren't fearless . They *use* fear; they turn it into anger and focus.
