Emily awoke when she went to wrap her arm around you and she was only met with an empty mattress. She wiped the tired from her eyes and looked towards the bathroom but it was dark. She began to fully look around the bedroom but your presence was nowhere to be found. Em tore back the covers and grabbed her robe from the closet door throwing it over her shorts and tank top. She let out a shiver as the cold hit her bare feet.
“Y/N? Y/N?” Em called out as she moved throughout the rest of the house.
That was when she noticed the back porch light was on. As she looked further into the backyard she saw a pale figure lying in the grass. Emily threw open the door and ran into the yard. You were staring up at the sky watching the stars.
“You scared me what are you doing out here baby?” Emily asked.
Y/N wiped a tear away from her face, “Trying to figure out why the fuck I am still here.”
“Do you want to talk about it?”
Y/N shook her head, “Don’t know how.”
Emily nodded and then noticed as Y/N shivered. She was lying in the wet grass with only shorts and a tank top covering her, “You’re cold. What about we head inside and go back to bed?”
“Am not,” Y/N said wrapping her arms around her, “I am going to be fine.”
Em didn’t fight merely turned and went back into the house. Less than five minutes later she was back with two large blankets in hand and a pillow. She plopped the pillow right above Y/N’s head. Y/N had a glimmer of a smile as she watch her wife lay down next to her and pat the empty spot on the pillow. Y/N moved up to be next to her wife as Em threw the blankets around them.
“If you aren’t going inside then I am going to lay here next to you,” Em said wrapping her arms around Y/N and pulling her close.
Y/N let out a small sigh as the warmth began to radiate through her body again. She buried her head into Em’s chest. The tears that she had been trying to suppress all-day began to rush down her face. Soon they became uncontrollable. Her breath came in gasps and she pulled Emily closer to her. Em wrapped her leg around Y/N and made small circles on her back. She gave her kiss after kiss onto her forehead telling Y/N how much she loved her.
Finally, when Y/N had calmed down she decided to speak, “I don’t want to go to the funeral tomorrow. Please don’t make me. I can’t be around her. I can’t do it.”
Emily ran her fingers through her wife’s hair, “I know baby. I know. But I will be with you the entire time holding your hand.” “You won’t let my mother get anywhere near me?”
“Nope! If she tries I will bite her head off.”
Y/N laughed at this and then unburied herself to gently kiss her wife, “Can we go inside now? I am freezing.”
“Finally! I am afraid my beautiful wife is going to get frostbite out here.”
Em reached down her hand helping Y/N to her feet. They grabbed their blankets and the pillow throwing them in the living room. When they were finally settled back into bed Emily threw her arm over Y/N pulling her close. She kissed the back Y/N’s neck and whispered one final I love you as they fell asleep.
