Coming your way: A fee to fill pot holes
Ravenous for revenue, spendthrift governments will raise your taxes and also turn to other avenues to raise cash, such as charging fees for doing what governments already are paid to do.
In China, corrupt local governments charge residents with hundreds of fees, including fees for catching rats and for the light bulbs in street lights.

Dear Emily,
I came home tonight to find a package on my bed, and in the package was a book. I just wanted to thank you, with all of my heart, for sending it to me. Tonight has been an extremely hard night, I lost three friends. I've been called a liar, a coward, and a bad person. To be quite honest, the past few months have kind of put me through the wringer, so I need you to know that that book is like a lifeline right now, because it makes me feel like maybe there's some redeeming quality inside of me: even though I feel like a black hole is swallowing me up.
I told my friend Andrew that I feel like I'm constantly breaking things: because I hurt people without meaning to, or they end up leaving. Sometimes I hold on too tightly, sometimes I push them away, sometimes I don't know how to handle a situation and it makes my head so heavy that I need to talk to someone about it, and sometimes, when I try to do the right thing, it backfires. I keep trying to tell myself that I'm a good person, but right at this moment, its incredibly hard to believe.
so thank you for the book.and thank you for the card, and thank you for caring. you are an amazingly wonderful human being and I am so glad to know you ( if only through the interwebs) you are absolutely made of magic, and tonight you've saved a little part of me.
Thank you.
