Oh, do I love Emily Carpenter! I just finished “Until the Day I Die” and I’m so sad it’s over. This book is about a woman in Alabama who owns a tech company with her husband and married best friends. Her husband has died and Erin isn’t coping well. Her tech-savvy daughter, Shorie, is off to college (though she wants to stay home and work at the company). When Erin seems to be acting irrationally, her family and coworkers hold an intervention and she’s off to St. Lucia for a restorative/rehab experience. But nothing is what it’s supposed to be and this therapy might be deadly. Meanwhile, Shorie is figuring out another mystery about what’s happening at the company. Between the jungles of the Caribbean and suburban Alabama, this novel is scary, suspenseful and so well-plotted. Who can you trust, if anyone? @emily.d.c is such a great writer. I’ve loved all 4 of her books so much! Ok, guys, I have now read all 3 novels by Emily Carpenter @emily.d.c and I'm definitely a big fan. "The Weight of Lies" was a bit slow to start for me but once I was about 35% in, I couldn't put it down. It was suspenseful and gripping. Emily Carpenter is a master storyteller with novels that have a Southern gothic feel to them. I'd say "Burying the Honeysuckle Girls" (her debut novel) was my favorite. I can't wait until her next book which comes out in March. Again, thanks to @thrillerchick for the suggestion and thanks to @abwrites for suggesting @thrillerchick to me. After loving "Every Single Secret," about the creepy couples retreat, I rushed to read her debut novel, "Burying the Honeysuckle Girls." It was also incredible - about a young woman's search for the truth about a terrifying family legacy.
