The sun was setting, and Brisco stoked the fire, wanting to cook the hare he’d shot sooner rather than later.  Comet was grazing a short distance away, content with the green patch of grass he’d found.  

“You’d better count yourself lucky you know.  You just have to put your head down and eat, it’s not so easy for the rest of us folks.”  Brisco looked over at the horse who huffed at him, as though to give him some attitude about it.  “Oh don’t give me that, you know it’s true.”

Their conversation was cut short by the sound of hoofbeats approaching over the crackling fire.  Brisco grabbed his revolver, just in case.  There were bandits out in these hills, and he had just set out on a bounty hunt.  A woman approached, wearing a black hat.  A sign he was programmed to be wary of.

“Hands where I can see them.  Slowly now.”

Tbh I feel like Logan’s very ride or die when it comes to his family?  William doesn’t count because he’s never accepted him as family, but especially Juliet, Emily, and Lasair, he’s very protective of and will drop whatever he’s doing if they need something.  Even after he and Jules drift apart due to tensions over William, when she’s struggling with her alcoholism and marital problems with William, Logan’s absolutely right there offering support even though she didn’t give him much when he was dealing with his own addiction.  He doesn’t care about that though, she’s still his sister and he still cares so goddamn much about her and is absolutely willing to put the past behind them to help her.

Even with his dad, he’s the same way despite having such a strained relationship with him.  I believe that if his dad ever asked him for help or something (like he ever would swallow his pride enough to do such a thing), Logan again, would absolutely drop what he’s doing to help.  And despite talking shit about his father, I cannot see Logan tolerating anyone else speaking ill of him.  Tbh that’s what makes it hurt the most when Logan reaches out for his dad for help and gets turned away, because while yes James sees it as tough love, Logan would not have done the same if the tables were turned.

She's in a dream.

Lavender shades surround her with an edge with silver and smell of rich food and flute glasses sparkling wine, she knows she is in a dream. Deja vu. Hadn't she spoken to Mama about that before? Hadn't she?

Dolores plays the piano once more, someone has told her it's an anniversary party and they've been happily married for 10 years. If she presses hard, she remembers a party not long before, where she played piano before. Two years ago?

That can't be right. Just another dream. And so, she plays music for a little while; the wife's favorite songs, before she is told she can get up. She stands up from the table in her soft, demure lavender dress, and slips away from the party. She's never like parties and something aches to be there.

She slips into a hallway, her mind befuddled at the pain and memory before she pauses upon hearing the slightest of footsteps. A gentle turn of the head and she sees a young brunette girl, not quite eight?, peering around the corner. Dolores smiles at this, kneeling, as her pale eyes look into the girl's astonished gaze. "Now what are you doing up this late, miss?"
