Hm, so some updates from the woso landscape I follow over the past few days/hours. Thought I’d note them down so it’s easier to keep track of:

Ada Hegerberg back to playing with Norway, as early as Feb. Good for her! Norway have such powerhouse individuals but they haven’t seemed to click together perfectly yet so I can’t wait for that to happen before the Euros.

Japan and Australia announced their squads for the Asian Cup. Mana gets to play 2 more games with Arsenal before leaving, while the Matildas off straight to training camp in Dubai. Both squad selections were... interestinggg.

Jonas threw some shade at other WSL clubs about not being transparent enough with their vaccinated players and getting games postponed. Rightly so. May not be his greatest fan in terms of tactics rn but the way he expresses himself in interviews and press conferences, I’ve always liked. 

There’s the fantastic No More Red campaign but the women can’t play in the special shirt due to regulations so they’ll get jackets instead. Fans will probably be paying more attention to the fit rather than the message but oh wells.

Leah and Tobin potentially back in mid-Feb? Couldn’t come soon enough. Really, what happened to Tobin man :( Thought it was only deemed to be like a “small muscle injury” initially? 

Italy and Australia join Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Portugal (hosts) in the Algarve Cup. 2 more countries will be added later apparently. Yup, so far it seems like it’ll be Arnold Clark > Algarve = Tournoi de France >> SheBelieves in terms of quality tournaments during the Feb international window.

Interest in signing Julie Blakstad (yet another Norwegian) from WSL clubs, in particular Man City? Don’t know much about her but people seemed hyped. As with the case of Emma Snerle (Danish) who just signed with West Ham, did these young scandi talents all qualify for the FA points criteria because of their NT experience? (cause they’re all so young and I don’t imagine they have a ton of minutes at senior level to qualify on that alone) They seem to be coming over by the bucketload now, Hanna Bennison at Everton is another such profile. 

Lastly, Stina Blackstenius was linked to Man Utd and now somehow she might be headed this way to Arsenal?? Meh. Speculations are afloat involving Viv (naturally), since the arrival of another quality striker might spell her departure but honestly I didn’t really take it in that knee-jerk way? Might just be me but my intial reaction was that it’s good ambition from the club if this rumour comes to anything.
