The evolution of an Empath. We are ALL empathic, just as we all have extra-sensory (psychic) perceptions (empathic abilities are a subset of the fuller array of extra-sensory perceptions). They often come online fully (and quickly) during an awakening. This extra psychic weight can really add to the exhaustion one feels during this transitive time. The first stage (REFLECTION) is subconscious expression of another's emotion as if it's one's own. This is actually a co-dependent relationship with someone else that has emotionally flat-lined, a symptom that can manifest when someone's empathic maturation has stalled out in stages 1-3. The Empath becomes the unconscious outlet for someone that has shut down emotionally. Stage two - ME BLAME. The Empath starts to recognize me vs. them feelings, but believes the other's feelings are a direct result of something the Empath has done or not done. Stage three - DENIAL. Nothing here is mine. Everything gets off-loaded onto another person, including one's own authentic emotions and wounds. Stage four - AH-HA - the Empath starts to develop tools to distinguish between mine and not mine. Questioning and non-judgment are important. Stage five - the fully evolved and mature Empath, can readily distinguish what belongs to them and what doesn't. This allows emotions, actions, and wounds to find their appropriate home for healing.
