Spring is Not Far Behind #TruthAboutSociety
A question has been posed “Is a violent and depraved society an indicator that a new phase is just round the corner? – When I say this am I being delusional OR a hopeless optimist OR a fool who knows nothing?”
India is a vast and very heterogenous country. There are so many religions, so many languages, where dialect and culture tends to change every hundred kilo meter. Indis is one of the most…

Book #1
I checked my amazon site to see if I’d had any reviews on my book and yes! I’m very grateful for them, all three of them! That’s three more than I had before. Please take a moment and check it out. It’s a short read about bullying. I’ve given it to a friend who’s a teacher and I asked her to read, review, and pass it along to the next person. So, if anyone wants to do that feel free. I just want the word out there. Thanks! It’s called: It Has To Stop. Now! and it’s under Kindle.

I'm overweight and I'm not happy with it...
I lost all of the info for this blog post a couple of hours ago...After a pretty decent grocery trip I feel a little more empowered so I've decided to try this shiggity again... Here goes... "Walk the talk." "Do as I say, not as I do." "Practice what you preach." It's an old African proverb. Barry White said. Carlos Santana said it. It's the title for the third studio album 80s band Testament. Black Eyed Peas asked us if we could do it in Where's the Love? My field of study is Health and Exercise Science and I am hoping to earn my Bachelor's degree withing the next year, year and a half. While studying to my Personal and Community Health/Wellness class it dawned on me. How am I supposed to educate the community about the benefits of a positive healthy lifestyle when I don't do it for myself? Does that make me a hypocrite because I don't walk my talk? Life is full of contradictions. We say we want to eat healthy yet McDonalds is still one of the most successful fast food chains in the world. We say we want a satisfying job but still chase after the biggest paycheck. We say we want to keep abreast of national and global current events but find ourselves glued to E! News and TMZ. About me...I am no different. There is a HUGE variance in what I believe and how I behave...Anyone who says otherwise is definitely telling a lie. For the past month I have been feeling worse than I ever have before. I have become short of breath. I can barely climb a flight of stairs. I find myself wheezing and my clothes are not fitting properly. In a nutshell...I'm overweight. I dont consume water, fruits and vegetables like I should. Instead, my diet is full of starches, sugar, and fried and fast foods...#nobueno. We all fall short of things sometimes, but, this time, I feel like I have hit rock bottom and I am too heavy to get up. I can't stay like this, though... Practicing what you preach isn't easy, but it isn't impossible. Well, it may be impossible to do it completely...we all make mistakes sometimes. But how would we overcome issues that have gotten to an apex like mine has? We have to be able to distinguish what is true, use it to guide us instead of rationalizing our behavior and making life difficult. 1. When we hold two contracting ideas, we experience distress. We are torn. Our minds begin to fry. Even if we think it may be difficult it is usually something as simple as "I believe my health is important." and "I just ate a package of Zebra Cakes." Using yesterday as an example...my mind couldn't handle to contradiction, it has to go one of two directions. The first is rationalizing, thinking, "It's been a long day, I deserve this." Even though it is the easiest option, it does not have the better consequences. I took the shortcut in order to satisfy my id by indulging in the sugar and having that euphoric feeling for about 30 seconds. 2. The second option when torn between contracting ideas is to realize that one of the two ideas are false. Either we believe the truth isn't true or our behavior was not right. In my case, either I didn't believe my health was important or I shouldn't have eaten that package of Zebra Cakes. (I shouldn't have eaten that package of Zebra Cakes.) How do we make ourselves better and resolve these personal conflicts? First we have to figure out what is true, even if we may be powerless to change it. In my case, I am out of shape and overweight because I do not live a positive lifestyle. However, if I can't change it, it's better to know than lying to myself that "it really isn' that bad." Once the truth is acknowledged, we can then start changing behaviors and habits. You can teach an old dog new tricks...It just takes time. Even though it will be difficult, acknowledging the truth makes it a heckuva lot easier. (This actually goes into Prochaska Model of Health Behavior Change, almost a totally different topic...almost.) Now that I know I have a weight issue, I know changing it will have a great benefit on my life. What am I doing to make it better? I have resolved to change my eating habits, take advantage of the gym membership that's included in my tuition and fees, and try to stay in a positive mindset... Sooo... The most important step to fixing your contradictions is to realize you have them. Many people rationalize them away so there is never a gap between behavior and truth. Only the people who have gaps, the ones who aren’t living at their ideal capacity, are the people who can grow and improve. I need to be one of the ones who can grow and improve...
