Karen squeezed her hand again, to let her know it was okay and if she wanted to tell her she could “You don’t have to tell me everything, not if it is too much”, she reminded her
Hen shook her head as if she knew what would happen if she didn’t “No”, she said, needing to elaborate on that “If I don’t I think I might push you away”
Karen had nodded her head, shifting an arm so she held her wife more in a hug “If you’re sure but take your time”
Hen had not spoken immediately, finding comfort in the arms of Karen before she let out a small breath “The ferris wheel. It wasn’t stable. People were…”, she paused, that dread setting in “They were trying to all move at the same time. Some people just… they dropped”
Karen felt her stomach drop, the grip on Hen tightened “How much did you see?”, she whispered
Hen was quiet, her hands were shaking and her lip was quivering a lot more than they had before “They fell towards us. Chim and me. I couldn’t… We couldn’t…”, she paused again. A look of pure horror spread across her face, recalling the memory of trying desperately to try to catch some of them but the fall. The fall happened so quickly.
Karen shifted her hands from just hugging her to pulling the side of her head gently onto her shoulder “I’m sorry, baby”, she whispered.
Hen cried, there was no stopping that. She could drown in it, and would drown in it if Karen was not there. If Karen had not wanted her to talk to her “There was nothing we could do”, she said through broken sobs “Bobby, Buck and Eddie… They tried. They really tried but there was too many”
Karen moved her hands to rest on the back of Hen’s head, the sobs becoming louder against her but she didn’t move, she pressed her lips to the top of her head knowing that she had to get it out. She couldn’t say it was okay because it wouldn’t feel that way. How could it feel that way? She wouldn’t believe it if Hen said to her “I’ve got you, okay, I’ve got you”, she whispered, moving one hand to just gently rub at the back of her neck.

Hen wasn’t sure how long she had cried and been held by Karen, there hadn’t been words outside of sobs and small touches that could only soothe her a little. At one point she had even lowered her head down onto Karen’s lap, looking up at her “I’m sorry”, she whispered
Karen shook her head, gently touching the top of Hen’s head with one hand while the other gently stroked her cheek “Don’t be. I know you couldn’t stop it. I just didn’t want it to eat you alive”, she said
Hen had sighed, her head hurt now from the crying but she didn’t want to move away. She didn’t want to head out there when she still felt all jumbled “I don’t know if it won’t even after talking about it”, she admitted, not wanting to lie
Karen had hummed very gently as if she was considering something “Well, how about something else then? To distract you a little?”, she asked
Hen’s eyebrows furrowed just slightly “Like what?”, she said
Karen kept stroking the side of Hen’s face “Lie down with me, I want to suggest something”
Hen raised an eyebrow before shrugging her shoulders “Okay…”, she said, shifting up and moving to lie on the bed before she kicked her shoes right off
Karen moved not long after she did so that they were lying side by side although she was leaning more on her hands then Hen was “Are your hands tense? Are you tense?”, she asked
Hen hummed, wondering what exactly her wife was getting at “Yes, why?”, she answered
