Life of a Ride along

That moment of "what the fuck" when you choose to get out of bed at 11:45 to run a BLS call with the FD your riding along with only to find a drunk lady wth zero medical issues. Mind you, I'm sure her "abdominal pain" was real, but judging by the cartwheels she was doing for the PD when we got there... I think the rum is talking a little more. And not only did you choose to take the BLS call, but as you are leaving the hospital, the ALS unit gets toned for an actually medical call and you just have to get in the back and head back to the station. Well, at least I get back to bed earlier.

so this is the first weekend since the end of January that I haven't been working and here I am, laying in bed, wishing I was at work.

Actual conversation with a nurse while donating blood

Nurse: (about becoming an EMT) yeah but isn't there no money in that?

Me: well yeah I guess but I'm not in it for the money

Nurse: well then why would you want to do it?

Me: well I like helping people. It's not about the money for me

Nurse: yeah but you have to be able to make a living

Me: (obviously very sarcastic) well I guess I'll just marry a rich doctor then

Nurse: (unimpressed) well your haemoglobin looks really good...
