↳ loz ww randomizer — model / textures
Well, after a lot of inconsistent progress, recording issues, and over ten hours of file uploading, the project I set out on nearly two months ago is finally COMPLETE.
Say hello to Twilight Princess, reskinned and ready for action.
What is this?
Text-Free TP is an .mp4 compilation of all of the major cutscenes in the GameCube version of Twilight Princess, recorded with OBS Studio in Dolphin Emulator at 1080p and individually uploaded to Google Drive in compressed .rar formats. As the name implies, the cutscenes are free of any text or button overlays - they are as obstruction-free as possible, for whatever purposes one might desire. See the before and after images below:
Why is this a thing?
Because a 10-year-old me would have killed to be able to AMVs with this footage, and though this may be too little, too late, when I realized it was possible I knew I had no choice but to make that old dream become a reality. The full story, along with how exactly this was done, can be read all about HERE, in my initial post detailing the project.
Can I use these files for [PURPOSE]?
You can use these files however you like - making GIFs, videos, what have you - my only request being that I am fully, visibly credited for the footage itself. This was a project over 40 hours in the making! I not only had to edit the game’s texture files, but I then had to play through the entire game! Please link back to this post, and feel free to message me to let me know about any stuff you make; use the hashtag #text free tp if you post whatever it is on Tumblr, as I’d love to know that people are getting some use out of it.
I’m almost done here, but just a few quick notes before I sign off:
You will need a program that can extract .rar files in order to get the .mp4s. Most people already have WinRAR these days, but if you somehow don’t, Google it. It’s free for life, no matter what it tries to tell you.
There is some very, very mild, barely noticeable stuttering scattered throughout the cutscenes - nothing that some simple video editing cannot fix. This is due to the game being run on an emulator, and my computer not being the best of the best. No footage is actually skipped, it just lags for a fraction of a second here and there - but for general purposes, it is all completely, 100% ready-to-use.
Aside from the textures I removed, no texture packs were used for the duration of this project to keep it as close to the original game as possible - this does of course mean that the textures aren’t quite up to par with, say, TPHD, but the native resolution of the game was enhanced with the power of emulation to 1080p, so it's still quite an upgrade from the original GameCube version of the game.
Reblogs are, naturally, hugely appreciated.
A special thanks to everyone who has kept up with the sparse updates I’ve made along this journey, and to @therealflurrin for inspiring me to make it in the first place.
(Putting the download link beneath a read more in case the link changes. Bare with me!)
