i love how ep 5.3 is setting up both the introduction of mage stuff like the Wyrm and Pentex and the Technocracy. And also simultaneously setting up a 'big conflict' between the two current 'sides' of the family, Door and Boy VS Big-D and Kitten. Because in 5.2 Kitten and D agreed to working with the Coalition, which is tied up in the Wyrm nonsense that inevitably ties back to Pentex, who is owned by the Technocracy*, And in 5.3, door and Boy have just come out of a very bad experience with one of Pentex's subsidiaries, which will make them both (especially door) very against the idea of working with the Coalition should they be made aware of the connection.

And another thing is how this also ties Kevin and Guy back into the main story, because they just escaped Palmer, who is a direct employee of Pentex (and possibly a Nephandi?) which has both freaked them the hell out, but ALSO given the family an 'in' with Pentex. So in a hypothetical schism, they could go either way, siding with Door against getting involved, or agreeing to help D and Kitten get in deeper with the mega-corp, this would also be a good way to reveal Kevin and Chapman to the rest of the family (sans Marckus).

Either way, shit's going to go down, especially if Marckus ends up being a mage like we all theorize he is, because you KNOW the Technocracy will want to get their hands on him.

*Context: In WOD the Technocracy is basically the magical Illuminati, an organisation of mages and their subordinates subtly controlling the world by using modern consumerism (and Wyrm spirits) to influence the consensus and reinforce the rigid truth of logic and science and denounce magic and mysticism, making it much harder for other mages to do magic. Or any supernaturals to do anything really.

just thought i'd clarify something, when i say "kieran's literally a teenager" i do not mean "Kieran is an UwU precious bean incapable of wrong".

I mean "when your a teenager you tend to take everything way to seriously and your feeling a lot of strong emotions that can make you lash out" he made mistakes! He was an ass to people! and then he apologised for it! If you remove his flaws you also remove his character growth and narrative!

Kieran being kind of a dick doesn't make him evil and unlikable, it humanizes him and makes his narrative arc more impactful. you do not need to sanitize him in order to like him.

sorry that im rambling, it just kind of annoys me that after years of asking for a more emotionally complex rival, once we got him everyone decided he was either a tyrant or a martyr with no in between.

at some point im gonna do a full breakdown of his character and why i like him.

TLDR: Kieran is a kid who made mistakes and hurt people, but that does not make him unlikable or evil, and i dislike how people either remove his flaws entirely or demonize him.

the sleep mask changing colour to match Hypnos's eyes means something i know it.

(also the wing no longer being visible in his hair, the metal wings floating around him, honestly i should just make a whole post breaking down his design changes at some point.)

And Swiss's exile is almost definitely Meat Jane, the bright blue nailpolish and the 'shucks' are dead giveaways, but now I'm wondering, does that mean ALL the exiles in this new game are the Meat cast? Because that would be a really good way to keep them in the story, while also making way for the drama heavy Candy Adults, who are definitely going to find a way out of the black hole at some point and are going to immediately steal the spotlight when they do with their soap-opera shenanigans.

but now I'm also wondering, how exactly did Jane and the others get their hands on Exile terminals? Are they going to help the kids start and enter the session or try to sabotage it? Because the Meat crew all want to make sure Dirk and Rosebot's 'make people play Sburb forever' plan doesn't come to fruition, and helping this new batch of kids start their session as the exiles seems counterintuitive to that, so it seems more likely that they'll try to sabotage the kids session so that it fails before they enter the medium/never happens. With Dirk having to leverage his narrative powers to stop them. But that's just pure speculation on my part.
