Making sure there was no one in the room, you quickly walked in and shut the door quietly. Trying hard to content the wide smile forming on your face, you quickly walked over to his desk.

Placing a packet of bread and banana milk on the desk, you take out a pen and a pad of sticky notes. Not even hesitating to think about what to write, your hand immediately started brushing against the table, leaving beautifully written letters formed in beautiful sentences onto the piece on paper.

I saw you in class today, and you look kinda tired so I wanted to get you a little something more than the usual chocolate bar for you, so I got you bread and banana milk! I hope you don’t mind either of those things hehe

I saw you looking for me yesterday during class, it was kinda funny I’m not going to lie, watching you swing your head side to side looking confused(?). Please stop looking for me, I think I’m still too shy to be confronted by you hehe ///>-<///

But really, once I get a little more courage I promise I’ll come up to you one day in person and give you your daily chocolate bar. I’ll confess then too, but I still can’t figure out if you find me annoying or cute from that constant straight face you would always have. I think I would still be scared that I would get rejected then but I think (well, I hope) that then I will have the heart to take the heartbreak.

Anyways, I hope that you’ll have a great rest of your day Jay. Smile! You always look sooooooo much more handsome when you do!

Ripping the small piece of paper from the rest of the pad, you carefully place it onto the packaging of the bread before putting your pen and paper away. 

But before you could move away from Jay’s desk, the door suddenly opens. Turning around in shock, you come face to face with the man himself- Jay.

“What are you doing at my desk?” He questions you as he begins to walk towards you.

“Um- I- uh…” You stumble on your words not knowing what to do after being caught by him.

Jay picks up the piece of paper on his desk before reading it quickly. You stand there awkwardly, debating if you should run or not.

“So i’t been you the whole time” He asks you as he puts down the paper. You nod you head slightly, your vision locked onto your shoes that were ever so interesting.

“Well, you should have just told me. Then you wouldn’t have had to spend so much money on me.” He tells you with a joking tone, making you look up from the ground confused.

“Wait-what? What do you mean?” You asked confused, your head spinning from both the sudden blood rushing to your red cheeks and from the confusion Jay was giving you.

“It means, you should have just told me from the start and you wouldn’t have had to spend so much money on me, when I would be the one spending money on you.”  Still confused you tilt your head a little. Jay rolls his eyes playfully.

“It means I like you dummy,” your red cheeks somehow becomes redder as you feel a wave of happiness flush over you. “Let’s date.”

Jay took a deep breath to prepare himself before making his way into the school, going straight to your locker where he knew you would be. He hugged the flowers he had bought for you to his chest, benign careful so as to not crush them. The bear that he had picked out for you rested in his other hand, the little ‘i love you’ pillow that it was carrying reminding him of himself. He was about to confess to you, wearing his heart on his sleeve. From the moment that he first saw you you captivated him, making him want to know you and love you and be with you. And what better day to confess than Valentine’s day. Oh god, I hope they don’t reject me.

Jay saw your figure in the distance as he approached your locker. Your back was to him and you seemed to be engaged in a conversation with another student. As Jay came closer, he was able to hear exactly what the two of you were talking about and his heart dropped.

“That’s great, Y/n! I’m so proud of you. But uh, the reason I came here. I was wondering if you would like to be my valentine,” the tall boy said, offering you a heart-shaped box of chocolates which you immediately grabbed hold of, pulling the boy into an embrace. Jay felt the blood leaving his face at the next words you said.

“I’d love to be your valentine, Chris,” you mumbled into the boy’s--Chris’s--chest.

Jay watched on as you pulled away from the hug, grabbing Chris’s hand and intertwining your fingers, dragging him along with you.

Chris. 

That was the name of your valentine.

Not Jay.

The white roses that he had brought lay forgotten on the floor, crumpled. Like Jay’s heart.
