Desire in The Sandman Season 2
It's Nonbinary Awareness Week!
I'll be posting at least one free book each day with a nonbinary character (except on July 16, which is Drag Day and will focus on books with characters in drag.)
Some previously-featured books with nonbinary characters that are still free include:
Unbury the Bones by Coyote J.M. Edwards - cozy fantasy with a nonbinary vampire protagonist
A Strip of Velvet by Rien Gray - nonbinary forest deity/female huntress
Of Melodies and Maledictions by Maddox Grey - romantasy, female witch/nonbinary thief werewolf
Last Gasp by Emily Riesbeck - science fiction with a nonbinary alien and a human man
Coffee and Faeire Cakes by Laura Simons - fantasy romance with a nonbinary faerie protagonist
How I Found Myself by Luna Tibling - contemporary fiction with a nonbinary human protagonist
It's Non-binary Awareness Week!
Be aware. We could be anywhere. Even....BEHIND YOU!!!
Happy Nonbinary Awareness Week!
It's hard trying to explain to your best friend of two-plus decades why you "all of a sudden" started applying the label "nonbinary" to yourself, especially when at the time, it was something you were still working to figure out. Even three years after the fact, I have a hard time explaining why that label is such a big part of how I move through my world.
Nonbinary, also known as genderqueer, is a spectrum of gender identities that are not exclusively masculine or feminine— identities that are outside the gender binary. Nonbinary people may identify as
- having two or more genders
- having no gender
- moving between genders or having a fluctuating gender identity
- being third gender or other-gendered, including those who don't place a name to their gender.
This year's Nonbinary Awareness Week, kicking off with International Nonbinary People's Day, I finally feel comfortable to put my own label out into the world: I'm genderfluid. I'm not particularly attached to either binary on any given day. I just don't feel particularly attached to any one form of gender expression or gendered pronoun (though my preference is she/her, I'm still testing out they/them).
....I can't put into words how freeing that is to say out loud (even over the interwebs).
Happy Nonbinary People's Day!
💛🤍💜🖤
It's International Non-Binary People's Day. I have written two contemporary romcoms with nb main characters. Allies are actually required to buy these books today. Sorry, allies, I know the rules are tough 🫤
Happy nonbinary people’s day! (and first day of nonbinary awareness week!)
