Happy Mother's Day, Mom!
(I see a lot of myself and my mom in Anna and Iduna.)
"Her love could hold up the world."
The way I've had the same blog title for like 6 years already, but it's still the best F2 quote... and the fact it isn't even in the movie says all you need to know what I think about F2.
I just often think back to when that deleted scene first dropped like a month or so after F2 came out back in 2019. And how watching it finally made me realize why exactly F2 felt so off to me (I'm saying this as someone who originally loved it and saw it like 7 times in theaters).
My love-hate relationship with F2 has been a downward spiral since that deleted scene and I feel like at this point F3 is the only thing that can fix it (though, I'm not holding my breath).
(A giant big fuck you to Tumblr for marking my Mother's Day gifset as "potential content for adults" when literally all I'm trying to do is grief my mother on her death anniversary...)
I usually don't get personal on here, because I like this to stay a happy place for Anna content, but I need a moment.
My Mother's Day gifset is a bit different this year. Partly because I still struggle making a new gifset every year with the limited screentime Anna and Iduna have together and we still haven't gotten new footage since 2019 (if F3 doesn't give more of these two together I WILL be throwing hands!)
But also because this year Mother's Day and my mother's death anniversary both fall on the same day. So, I figured it was fitting to make this year's gifset grief focused.
Anna and Iduna's relationship means so much to me, because I know what it's like to have parents who often leave you alone, because "your big sister needs us more," and how much you still struggle with it when your parent(s) die before you can heal from that (which is one of the reasons I hate it so much how they keep deleting scenes/songs where Anna struggles with this).
Anyway, I'll leave my vent at this. I just love this mother & daughter relationship so much and crave more of it.
Rip to the Mirabel and Julieta gifset I had planned for Mother's Day, but barely got started on, because I've just been so god damn tired the past week, I keep wanting to go back to bed...
The main reason I did get my Anna and Iduna Mother's Day gifset out on time is because that's been a yearly tradition for me since 2020 that I refuse to break, just because I'm "too tired".
Oh, the gifsets I could make if I wasn't a sleepy girl...
So much Anna hate comes down to; tell me you don't know/understand what a glass child is (or don't care about glass children) without telling me.
Also, definition for people who genuinely don't know: "A “glass child” is a term used to describe a child who is often overlooked or neglected due to the focus on their sibling with special needs or chronic illness."
If you dare claim that definition isn't literally how Iduna and Agnarr raised Anna and Elsa, I officially don't trust you.
When we were sharing memories, my mother told me I was a lot like young Anna when I was that age. Just very hyper, easily excited, always wanting to cuddle and do things together.
No wonder I clung onto Anna and Iduna’s relationship so hard.
Me: I wanna gif more Anna and Iduna!
Me knowing I’ve already giffed all available footage:
Did you guys ever notice how F2 starts out with the Anna/Iduna and Elsa/Agnarr dynamics that we're used to from this franchise?
And also how F2 starts out with Agnarr taking the lead in the scene, while Iduna is just kinda there. But the moment Agnarr leaves and Iduna takes over, is when the movie out of nowhere wants us to believe this family has always had the Elsa/Iduna and Anna/Agnarr dynamics (while putting literally zero effort into developing Anna and Agnarr's dynamic...)
I'm sorry, but I still hate the forced dynamic switch in F2, nothing about it felt natural based on everything else we've seen in this franchise. Espcially because you can tell it's entirely based on "Arendellians belong with Arendellians and Northuldra belong with Northuldra" logic, which is kinda yikes...
Give me the Anna/Iduna and Elsa/Agnarr dynamics back or I really don't care anymore...
I guess I can at least thank F2 for making me realize the feeling of a NOTP can definitely apply to platonic relationships, too. Because that's how I feel when I see the Elsa/Iduna and Anna/Agnarr dynamics. I like to call them NOPEs.
