Enders (and Mimics)
Enders of note: Enderman, Enderain, and Endervoid (front view/side view showcased below)
Ender is an umbrella term for enderman and related species such as the uncommon enderain and the rarely met endervoid. While there are notable differences between members of this group, they are known for their sharp claws, bipedal stance, and plated mouths.
They may all seem from a distance to be the same, but closer inspection allows a greater recognition of each species’ uniqueness.
Endervoids-
Starting with the largest members of this group, the endervoid is notable for a stocky, muscular build with a thickly built chest and torso. They have a strong upper body and are exceptional climbers, often found in community groups about cave dwellings or cliff faces.
They are also the only Enders with no visible pupils and a ‘taloned’ foot. Capable of a wide range of motion in their wrists/ankles, their big toes (which are equipped with a large, hooked claw) being able to move nearly 90° from its default position. These features assist with climbing capability, which is beneficial as they are a slower moving ender with no teleportation capability.
Closest in relation to the enderman, these two Enders can have viable, fertile offspring while they are more distantly related to the enderian. Viable offspring is able to be had, though these two enders don’t interact often.
Enderman-
The second tallest of the group, they are also the most well known. In the past they were notable for elaborate horns and expansive civilizations, though due to conflict with players, they have become more skittish/nomadic. In the nether, they are beginning to reclaim their communal groupings and as interactions with players decrease in violent outcomes (due to miscommunication/offense from direct eye contact making much interaction tense) there has been more enderman showcasing their more traditionally seen horns.
Horns used to be regularly worn down between growth periods (as unlike the enderain, enderman and endervoids have periods where the delicate skin covering their horns becomes easily broken allowing for shedding of a horn cap in enderman’s cases and contuined bonal growth in endervoids) to avoid targeting, though this process caused extensive pain and sensitivity along the head. This practice is decreasing in enderman communities with increased stability.
Enderman are rather lanky in build with very long legs and arms, though they are actually often more lithe and lighter when compared with enderains. They are able to have viable, fertile offspring with both endervoids and enderains.
While their lengthy claws makes it more difficult for them to utilize tools (like the ednerain) and their builds doesn’t allow for much muscular for climbing or defense (like the endervoid) they are known for their incredible teleportation.
While enderains are similar capable of ‘teleportation’, the enderpearl of an enderman is a very thickly built organ that can more effectively utilize magic around them to allow them to essentially tear through space. The enderman can then slip through these tears, moving through different realms while ‘vanishing’ from the observed realm until reappearing in another location. A trail of purple particles is observed after these occurances and can allow one to ‘see’ the trail of traveling.
It is unknown how the enderpearl does this, but even when removed from an enderman, they can be utilized by any being with the sapience necessary. Some have described this transportation as painful or irritating though enderman and enderain don’t experience this.
Enderman may also produce these ‘interdimensional particles’ when irritated/experiencing strong negative emotions.
Enderain-
While very similar to the enderman, the enderain is a species that has more easily adapted to co-habitation with players and other sapient species due to their more ‘civilized’ mannerisms. The simple fact is their culture is a lot younger than the enderman’s or endervoid’s and they share more humanoid proportions compared with other Enders. They are more adaptable as a result and less players interact with them with caution or wariness.
The enderain are also known for being more ‘crafty’ due to shorter claws and more mobile thumbs that allows more effective use of tools for creating things. They also like to ordain themselves more similarly to players with jewelery/fine clothing.
False Enders:
Moving on, while the following species aren’t Enders, not even vaguely related, they are notable for their mimicry and are sometimes mistaken for enderman.
Mimics- Enderman (though the show individual is an outlier as this is an individual with albinism; enderman mimics usually showcase dark colorations similar to Enders), mountain goat, and wolf varieties showcased below
Mimics have long ears like that of an endervoid’s that often (in the enderman and wolf variant) are laid lax to be more hidden by their neck ruffles of fur.
Speaking of which, one of the most immediate differences is the fact that mimics have very thick fur rather than the finer hair seen in Enders, though this is more close to the body in the enderman variant.
As well, they have only a three toed, padded foot rather than the more uniformly four-toed, ridged foot of Enders. Their elongated pinkie claws also commonly gives them away, this claw being used for gripping.
All in all, while the enderman variant mimic may be sometimes grouped in with other Enders in comparisons or observations, they are not true enders.
Moving back to enders, they can be noted for differing tail structures/lengths, horn growth patterns (enderman and enderian horns grow mostly straight upwards with enderians showing off a backward curve; endervoids may have horns that grow arched, curled, etc.), variation in skin colorations/patterns (enderman have rectangular bars that cover the skin, enderian have a paler underbelly with darker skin/bar like patterns on the dorsal/exterior of their bodies, and endervoids live up to their names with very, very dark, void-like skin), and varying hair lengths along their bodies (enderman have very fine hair that’s most notable along the neck, elbows, and tails; enderians have fine hair along the body but most hair is found on their ear tips, shoulders/elbows, back of the head/neck, and along their tufted tails; endervoids have a fine hair covering their bodies with thicker hair along the upper body, arms, and back of the legs.)
