I keep thinking about Raven!Hob and suddenly I had an interesting thought.
What if Hob dies in his sleep before he ever made it to the White Horse and refuses to go with Death as per in character and I guess since he died that way Death is like: “Well, my brother could take you as a Raven to his eyes and ears, but he already has one.”
“What, he can't have two? One for each eye?” Clearly in a joking manner.
Dream gets summoned to this impromptu meeting by Death because she wants to see where this might go, and Hob is like: “I want to be your Raven!” very enthusiastically and Dream, of course, is immediately like: “No.” Because he doesn't need a second raven, but Hob is like: “Ah but one raven can't be everywhere all at once, I can expand your eyes to other places.”
So then this leads to the whole 100 year “Tell me what it's like” meetings again, and Hob is basically a Raven now but stuck in the human realm. However, since he is Dream's Raven, regardless, he has the ability to go to other realms, and I think it would be really cool if he unintentionally spent a century with each of the Endless siblings. Getting to know them, their purpose (especially when they're in the human realm), what they do and every time Dream calls for Hob to meet every century he tells Dream of the human realm and how it's changed and how his sibling helped shape it and this gives Dream a perspective he never asked for but one that might just help his relationships with his siblings. (Also I adore the idea of Hob just being friends with all the Endless and maybe giving them all a piece of his mind, too when visiting their realms) and of course fish bowl saving and all that can still happen when Hob realizes Dream missed a meeting. It would be really cool if Hob visited Orpheus (I would actually sob) and still became friends with Calliope annnnnd maybe stop Dream from dying (S2 fix-it anyone???? Imagine Hob wanting to fist fight the fates. Same honestly) Imagine Hob interacting with Time and Night…. Maybe Hope!Hob can happen as his raven form Hob slowly turns more golden over time and gets his human form again… The ideas are endless!!! (pun definitely intended)
