"I'm confident that there's a purpose behind this painful waiting"
In this unfamiliar place, take heart and give yourself an endless amount of grace and recognize this: you're still here, you're still standing, you're still fighting. You still have a mighty purpose in Him. You have not lost your great destiny in the Lord.
🌺All this time, God has brought you and kept you. Look back and see all the ways He's proven Himself faithful 🌺
"Lent reminds us of our humanity, but simultaneously points us toward our total dependence on Christ's redemptive work on the cross – his greatest act of love. As C.S. Lewis says, 'The Christian does not think God will love us because we are good, but that God will make us good because he loves us.' We are justified and made righteous by faith alone, not by our good works or merit. It is therefore out of the abundance of God's unmerited Love and grace – not our need to earn it – that we do good works." . . . It can be really easy for us to do good things for the wrong reasons. Whether we're stopping to give food to a homeless person on the street, volunteering at a soup kitchen, or going on mission trips to impoverished countries, we sometimes use these actions to prove to God or to others our own "generosity" "goodness" or "selflessness." Don't get me wrong, it's not that we *aren't* generous or good to others...but sometimes we miss the point. In the midst of doing all of these acts of service, we forget that the source of this goodness and generosity isn't our OWN, but comes from a deep sense of God's abundant Love and grace for us. . . . During my time in Haiti, God reminded me of this fundamental truth: I was not able to love and care for these children out of my own goodness, but it was ultimately HIS goodness and LOVE that allowed both the children and myself to be blessed by God and by each other. God relieved me of the need to prove myself or act like some sort of saint; instead, He taught me how to genuinely love these children out of His overflowing love and grace for me. In allowing God's love–not my own–to be the center, the ministry and "good works" became a natural reaction to this love, not an attempt to earn it. . . . Do you ever obey God and/or do "good deeds" out of a sense of obligation rather than love? Or if not, have you ever felt worn out from giving to others so much that you've begun to reach your limit? In God, we are invited to receive His abundant and everlasting love, and allow all love, generosity and charity to flow from Him, a limitless and unending source of love, grace, and power. #howheloves #endlessgrace #byfaithalone #day20 (at Port-au-Prince, Haiti)

Come to the Cross
Come to the cross as a liar, as an addict, as a homosexual. Jesus will not turn you away, but be careful, because He won't leave you the same.
No one has the right to hear the gospel twice, while there remains someone who has not heard it once.
Oswald J. Smith
