To everyone being denied medical leave by their jobs despite not being able to get themselves to work due to menstrual cramps

SPOONIE THINGS NO ONE TALKS ABOUT PART 4

Mental and emotional self-care is really freaking hard

Doctors and others in chronically ill communities often emphasize how important self care is. Such as gentle excersice, journaling, socializing, reading, practicing mindfulness, or just keeping positive. These things are actually really difficult, even beyond the pain of physically accomplishing the task.

It doesn't matter what kind of illness you may have, the strain of physical stress on the brain is rough. I could take the time to tell you all the scientific studies, but if you're a spoonie, I'm sure you don't need the proof of science to know that your brain has taken a toll since your illness began.

Emotional breakdowns over small things happens all the time, just because your pain has already pushed your emotions so far that when something emotional happens, it's just too much. So when you're trying to let yourself experience your emotions, to let it out, it can be confusing and draining.

For example, people are always talking about how injured animals or people tend to be more aggressive or panicked. And if people or animals are left seriously injured without help for long periods of time, they become crazed with the pain and even if someone is trying to help they freak out because their brains are just so tired from all the stress the body is under.

Sometimes we feel like that injured person left in the woods. We've been so long with just us and out pain, trudging on alone, that our emotions are often on the fritz, not allowing us to process emotions properly or smoothly.

I’ve seen a lot of people talking about these pictures lately saying that Marilyn was pregnant during this time. That is incorrect. Marilyn was NOT pregnant here!!! Marilyns final pregnancy was during the filming of ‘Some Like It Hot’ in 1958. The other times she was pregnant was in 1956 during ‘The Prince and The Showgirl’ and 1957. Marilyn suffered with a condition called Endometriosis which is defined as “A disorder in which tissue that normally lines the uterus grows outside the uterus.” A symptom of this condition is BLOATING of the stomach, which we can clearly see in these photographs. As someone who suffers from PCOS, I also deal with bloating that occurs often. It’s so inspiring to see Marilyn looking so beautiful and natural when this is something I am self conscious about. Marilyn helps me to be more confident with this. I hope this post helps somehow, I think we should normalise the beauty of our stomaches more often! 💕🤍✨

Bad news for my new fic!😭 The new "Emma" chapter is going to be late this week! In the effort for full disclosure, I haven't been feeling too great. I have really bad endometriosis and some days are better than others but the pain has been too much for my creative juices to flow freely! Bear with me please!
