Give me a caretaker and whumpee duo that hated eachother originally but come to like eachother due to mutual hating for whumper.
Like I hate Whumper, you hate Whumper, so I guess we’ll form a temporary team to bring that loser down then go our seperate ways
But they NEVER go their seperate ways
Caretakers being mistaken for the whumper of the situation.
The rest of the team rush over to find Whumpee, horribly injured and definitely unconscious from the blood loss. And, crouching beside them, holding onto Whumpee’s form is Caretaker.
However, Caretaker is a known enemy of Whumpee and the team. And there’s no other assailants in sight, clearly this must have been Caretaker trying to kill Whumpee. It’s entirely in character for them after all.
The team ignore Caretaker pleading and fighting to try and stay by Whumpee’s side. They don’t understand what’s so important about them, but they don’t have time to deal with that until Whumpee is healed. Caretaker is detained somewhere by the team in the meantime.
Eventually, the only thing that can save Caretaker here from facing the wrath of the protective team is Whumpee. Either Whumpee wakes up and instead of asking what happened to them, goes straight to asking if Caretaker is alright, and did they get (even more) injured trying to drag Whumpee out of there? Maybe they confess that Caretaker even killed Whumper themself, hence why nobody else was nearby.
Or, Caretaker shows up just as Whumpee wakes up. Either they snuck in to see them or the team brought them in for Whumpee to confirm what happened. Instead of reacting negatively, they beckon Caretaker over and simply pull them in for a hug. The sheer amount of trust Whumpee has in them is enough to make the team a little unsure of who was really at fault here.
Caretaker is a medic on the other side of the conflict than whumpee is, and needs to perform a painful but necessary procedure. Whumpee assumes that it will be used as an excuse to maim them, and begs and pleads with them to stop.
“Get off of me!”
“Is it not obvious that I’m saving you, you dunce!”
“Why would you save me?”
“Why would you get yourself caught!”
“Why won’t you tell me what happened?”
“What, like you’d even care if I did.”
“I- what you think I came all this way cause I don’t care!?”
“You deserved a way worse beating than whatever they gave you.”
“What do you wan- oh, another nightmare?”
“Mhm.”
“God, you’re annoying, get in.” Pats bed
“Goodness sake, whumpee, the rope isn’t for you, it’s for the moving the logs out back.”
“What’s that?”
“Another love note from lover boy Whumper, lucky you, hm?”
“I hate you!”
“Don’t try sweet talk your way out of taking your meds, whumpee.”
