Hey I recently discovered that burning white sage is cultural appropriation and I wanted to know if you knew of any herbs that black/Caribbean/West Indian use when they cleanse/bless a house. I grew up doing that but always bought white sage so now I would like to connect more to my own cultural roots :) thanks if you have any info and if not then stay safe and protected during these tough times 💕

I tend to use rosemary, Lavendar, marijuana, incense or black pepper if I don’t have sage around. Im a weed smoker, so ill roll it in rolling papers like bud and burn it like sage.

You can also get a spray bottle and put water/florida water mixed w salt, pepper, and any herbs or essential oils that have a vibration of protection, banishment or cleansing

There’s also sound cleansing-you can use a sound bath or singing bowl video on youtube and play it in the space you need cleansed, theres clapping your own hands, or you can get a bell or your own singing bowl

Plants help to cleanse the space as well as essential oils-if you can get a cold mist diffuser (not a warm one as it distributes less of the beneficial stuff of the oils) or an oil burner.

You can use protective symbols and sigils-draw them on paper, post its, or you can just draw them in the air w your finger while visualizing the symbol is being formed and energizing it, or draw it in the air wirh incense smoke. I’m prone to the Ankh, the Triquetra and the Pentacle. I was also taught this method with Reiki symbols. You can also make your own sigils or uss some you find on the internet, Ig, or tumblr

There’s also crystals, you can get stones specifically used for cleansing like selenite or citrine, you can make a crystal grid if youd like

I hope that helps😊 Also, if you could supply some links about white sage being cultural appropriation l, I’m sure we’d all appreciate it. I’ve heard it’s bad to use because it’s endangered and that using the term “smudging” as opposed to “smoke cleansing” is appropriative

Valley County, Montana Issues Apology After Flier Says Out of State Workers Must Wear Pink Wristbands
