So, this April 2nd will be the ONE year anniversary that my father is in HEAVEN! The ONE year that stage 4 lung cancer, caused directly from his time spent at Ground Zero, took his life! And I STILL cry. I'm sad that I no longer have my dad. But I am also happy that I had him for 40 years of my life. I'm PROUD, very PROUD of my father. He was a BRAVE man! I swear, he did NOT COMPLAIN one time about anything. He took life as it was dealt to him, until his last breath... Not 1 complaint, no hate in his heart and he STILL smiled!!! They will be adding this Street Sign on the corner of BROADWAY and FOREST AVENUE, in Staten Island... FF ROY E. SMITH His FireHouse was Engine 156 aka BROADWAY EXPRESS on Broadway by Delafield. And his house of 38 years is on Broadway by the SI Zoo. Forest Avenue is a main road and pretty much between his work and home. That is where he will be honored with a renaming of a STREET SIGN... Acknowledging his years of service and dedication to his neighborhood, his community! #MyDadMyHeroFDNY9037
