So, this April 2nd will be the ONE year anniversary that my father is in HEAVEN! The ONE year that stage 4 lung cancer, caused directly from his time spent at Ground Zero, took his life! And I STILL cry. I'm sad that I no longer have my dad. But I am also happy that I had him for 40 years of my life. I'm PROUD, very PROUD of my father. He was a BRAVE man! I swear, he did NOT COMPLAIN one time about anything. He took life as it was dealt to him, until his last breath... Not 1 complaint, no hate in his heart and he STILL smiled!!! They will be adding this Street Sign on the corner of BROADWAY and FOREST AVENUE, in Staten Island... FF ROY E. SMITH His FireHouse was Engine 156 aka BROADWAY EXPRESS on Broadway by Delafield. And his house of 38 years is on Broadway by the SI Zoo. Forest Avenue is a main road and pretty much between his work and home. That is where he will be honored with a renaming of a STREET SIGN... My father's name was added to the 9/11 "POST CARDS" wall memorial in Staten Island. This part is dedicated to the men and women, ALL of them were 1st Responders. They passed away due to an illness that was caused directly from their time spent at Ground Zero either on the day of 9/11 or after. It was a beautiful ceremony and glad my family was able to be there... Representing for my DAD! WE ARE SO PROUD OF HIM! #MyDadMyHeroFDNY9037

Today, my father, (ret) FF ROY E. SMITH, along with 31 other first responders within the FDNY had their names added to the 9/11 wall memorial at the FDNY HEAD QUARTERS in BROOKLYN at the METRO TECH BUILDING. They held a ROSE CEREMONY. My mother placed a rose where his name will remain and be remembered, respected and honored for many, MANY, years to come! My father passed away this April 2nd from 4th stage lung cancer which was caused directly from 9/11 #MyDadMyHeroFDNY9037

Tonight at 8:45 pm will be exactly 5 months since my father passed away. He spent the last 2 weeks of his life in the hospital and all he wanted to do was come home, eat a steak and have some ice cream. Unfortunately that never happened. He lost his first and last battle to stage 4 lung cancer which was caused directly from 9/11. He was a FF with ENGINE 156 aka BROADWAY EXPRESS and was on duty that morning. He made it home alive and well... To lose his life almost 15 yrs after the 9/11 attacks

This is a pic of my dad with our close, family friend, Rosario. This is the same day he was diagnosed with having lung cancer which was caused directly from 9/11. He said “COME ON, HONEY… LETS GO FOR A DRINK!” And so we did. Well, he did. I was the designated driver. And he didn’t tell a soul, didn’t mention it to anyone! UFA President released this article about my father just a few days after he passed away. He should have done his research before posting this because there are several wrong facts written here. So at the end of the article I will clear things up by stating the TRUE FACTS.

On Sunday, we lost one of our brothers due to the ravages of cancer caused by his service at the World Trade Center site following the 9-11 attacks. Roy, who retired from Ladder 156 in Brooklyn in 2003, also served his country in Vietnam as a member of the U.S. Air Force. He was active and healthy before 9-11, and had given 14 years of service to New York City. He was 67 years old. Since shortly after the 9-11 attacks on our nation, New York City Firefighters have been getting sick and dying in record numbers as a result of cancers and other diseases caused by breathing the toxic air at the World Trade Center site. Medical data that the FDNY maintained on every New York City Firefighter pre-9-11 gave doctors conclusive scientific results on the negative health impact the environment had on our members. Smith is the fifth firefighter who has passed away due to a 9-11 related illness this year. He lost his battle with stage four lung cancer and was a member of the FDNY. Ret. FF. Roy E. My daughter BRIELLE aka BREEZiE is PROUDLY wearing her “COO~COO’s” helmet.

During the WTC Funeral that was held for my father, part of the ceremony was presenting my mother with this helmet. It was given to her in honor of my father, from the FDNY.

BREEZiE and her Coo~Coo were best buddies. Any chance she gets to “REPRESENT” for him… SHE WILL! If anyone comes to the house… The helmet goes on until the company leaves. Then she’ll put it back in it’s place!

FYI … When Breezie started to speak, she came up with COO~COO. So instead of calling my dad Grandfather, Grampa, Pop Pop, etc… He simply became COO~COO. He was her COO~COO!!!
