An awesome Kickstarter came across me this morning and it’s from no other then Emma ‘Eniko’ Maassen of Kitsune Games (previously on Kickstarter with Lore Finder).
I’m super excited, because this time she’s doing an educational video series explaining some of the cool ways old games did 3D graphics. Coding History: 3D from Mode7 to DOOM will cover (at least) 12 episodes, the 7 originally planned ones and 5 added through the first stretch goal:
Sprite based 3D dungeons (Lands of Lore, Phantasy Star)
Pseudo 3D (Outrun)
Raycasting (Wolfenstein 3D, Rise of the Triad)
Mode 7 (Super Mario Kart, F-Zero)
Voxel terrain (Comanche)
Binary space partitions (DOOM)
Portals (Duke Nukem 3D/Build Engine)
Polygonal software rendering
Perspective
Flat polygon shading
Textured polygon shading
Programmable pipeline (shaders)
Just watching the campaign video made me look forward to enjoying footage of old games while also learning how they made them work—and how you can code such engines yourself too!
If you’d like to support Eniko’s efforts to let us all geek out over computer rendering, hop on over to Kickstarter and send some funds her way.

*Update 12/26/2019 The dispute has been resolved between Mother Plucker Feathers and I. My work worn by @eniko on the left during the '14 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, photo courtesy of Paul Bayfield / Timesniper photography, the copied design by Mother Plucker on the right, that photo is by @therealspw. First things first, I think there was some confusion yesterday over which account people were commenting on when complaining about my Kira wing design being infringed upon, so that the account for the photographer was getting those angry comments. @therealspw is only the person who took the photos of Kylie, not the person who is in any way responsible for making the copied wings so please, please make sure you aren't bothering innocent people. The other thing I've learned is that Jill Jacobs is the stylist who handled the order with Mother Plucker for the wings. How much power each party had over the design isn't yet clear, but I still feel each played a significant part in this infringement imo and everyone should have known better than to use anyone's existing design without permission, especially considering the reputation that the Kardashian and Jenner families already have for a history of infringement claims and the prior knowledge of and access to my work. I got to talk to legal counsel this morning and awaiting more information within the next couple days from him so don't y'all worry, I know what I'm doing 😊 #victoriassecretfashionshow2014 #victoriassecretfairytale #enikomihalik #eniko #faerie #copyrightlaw #dietprada #arttheft https://www.instagram.com/p/B4dYebZFMn9/?igshid=uqzelgj4mwjg
