The Time I went to a Christian Rock Concert 

A tale I remembered and recounted for @purgatoryandme

It was probably grade 8, because the ~church events were divided by age group. And I believe we had just reached the age group of the “”older kids”” at this point.

We went to the church and got on the bus with the other Christians kiddos. I remember that one girls (the girl they showered with) brother was there and he was cool (???). But this concert was probably one of the better events this church has had. So I was down, since it was a concert and I was going through my emo phase, concerts were something emos and cool kids went to.

We were on the bus, there is probably some singing about God going on, some chit chatting. We get to the venue, idek where the venue was. Some kind of convention-looking center but it was small. There were tables with Christian merch from the Christian bands? To write love on her arms was there, I’m 99% sure. Actually, I had a sweater back in the day. It was TWLOHA and I think I got it from this event? It was a pretty nice sweater actually so 10/10. It kept me warm because I was also a sack of shit who didn’t like to wear a coat.

The band performed? I think there was two bands performing? I SWEAR there is a violin player in one of the bands, but its also not Skillet so maybe violins are a theme in Christian bands? Maybe there wasn’t a violin and I’m remembering wrong this entire time. I also remember rapping but I also don’t believe there was rapping at this event?

High key remember rapping (I think i’m remembering a video of a christian rapper I saw one time, now i’m ????), remember people complaining about there being someone there who raps? It was me. I was the one who was complaining probably. So. Fucking. Emo. It. Hurt.

Fun emo related side-story: There was also a time I pre-ordered something PATD related, but for some reason it didn’t “process” and I may have cried. (fuck you Fueled by Ramen, fucking lies.) This all happened within the same time period, the memories are coming back but this is unrelated so continuing on!

Anyway, bought that sweater and stuff. We go back on the bus and head back to church. HIGH KEY REMEMBER BEING IN THE CAR, but I also ~feel it was a different event. But I remember coming home from this event for some reason. (???)

The concert was not bad? From what I remember, I was also like 12. I don’t remember any real details. But I can remember how the venue was set up? I also remember holding a Relient K CD and being like I should buy this. Didn’t buy it. I remember getting on the bus and coming back. I remember that cool guy talking, I remember everyone wanted to fuck him which was weird because we were 12 and they were also really Christian.

Life conclusion: I only remember events if I have purchased something. Like I can remember basically where I bought everything I own but nothing else. (Is this a thing?!) I can’t believe I forgot about this, I wonder what else I’ve suppressed from my childhood. I wish I could suppress bible camp, for some reason it WONT GO AWAY.

WHY DID I DO SO MANY CHRISTIAN THINGS. IM NOT CHRISTIAN. NEVER RELIGIOUS ANY TIME IN MY LIFE. I’m dead I was still invited to events by my friends. I still to this day respect the fact that they were VERY AWARE how much I wasn’t into religion and never tried to be weird and convert me. Props 2 that I guess, some silver lining.

They converted ppl at fucking bible camp. I never very clearly being like nope, then questioning why I came to bible camp.

That was the time I went to a Christian Rock concert, I’m legit going to try and find the band. This happened like 8 years ago pretty much, this is fucking funny.
