Very early outing to catch the sunrise and was surprised to discover that an overnight freeze had occurred making for a slightly chilly and icy morning and you can see the layer of frost on the fence. First Light Over the Straits of Kyle Rhea by Paul Taylor Via Flickr: The Straits of Kyle Rhea is a wonderful location with an easterly aspect, backdrop of mountains and fast running tides, particularly so around dawn. On this day the tide was rising so the flow was strong making for a nice effect through a long exposure.
Five Mountains of Assynt by Paul Taylor Via Flickr: We had been exploring the Coigach Peninsula north of Ullapool when we rounded a hill and saw before us this magnificent sight. As I was taking the shots (this is a four shot pano) a storm blew in from behind making for a letterbox of bright sky in the distance with five mountains highlighted. On the left is Suilven with Canisp lurking behind, then Cul Mor, a slight view of Cul Beag and then Stac Pollaidh. The heavy rain can easily be made out and I feel this adds to the shot rather than detracts. An amazing sight of an amazing place.
Loch Cill Chriosd by Paul Taylor Via Flickr: It's taken me some time to process this shot into a state that I'm content with (well, as content as any photographer will ever be) but here it finally is. Loch Cill Chriosd is a beautiful place with many reeds in the shallow waters and a backdrop of mountains. It's a place I'd love to see in the depths of winter as I imagine it will look spectacular with the reeds poking through the ice. One day...
