Traveling for the holidays or just traveling

Having epilepsy does not usually prevent people from being able to travel by air., some people’s seizures are triggered by being very tired (which could happen because of long journeys or ‘jet lag’). For example, when I was a kid I traveled to the beautiful San Salvador. I seized almost all the time I was there but once my body regulated with the timezone I got fewer seizures.

Happy Fourth of July!🎉🎉

Well, it's that time of year again, where we celebrate our Independence and thank the people who helped us acquire it. With fireworks cook-outs and family. But let's remember to be safe and wear our masks and aim for the sky not direct fireworks at flammable areas. Last but not least to my photosensitives look at the fireworks with caution remember to look for a while then look away to give your eyes a break so you don't seize (worked for me). Well happy watching and remember to practice social distancing! HAVE FUN!

The brain in heat 🌡🧠♨️

New research published in PLOS Medicine suggests heat waves can slow us down in ways we may not realize. Heat stress, or when too much heat, is absorbed by the body can cause extreme exhaustion but can also mess with our thinking, making things like everyday tasks and simple math a little harder to do. From personal experience I've noticed I become way slower than usual and my thinking for simple situations wained and my auras would hit me stronger and escalated faster to seizures. Best ways I've stayed cool in the heat are to stay in the shade blast the AC drink lots of water(stay hydrated) and ice packs

A little about me: I got epilepsy at the age of eleven so puberty was already starting so I thought it's ok just a side effect of "the change" I never really brought it up with anyone because I didn't want "the talk" so I thought this would be a good post for those like me who also want to avoid "the talk" my advice though is to talk to someone even though you don't want to, doctors give the option to kick your parents out of the room at a doctors appointment so take the deal and talk to your doctor if you're not comfortable with them in there but always talk to your doctor!

don't let indoors be a bore. so the world, pills,seizure got you down and stuck at home and wanna put some spice in that part life. I've had my fair share of lack of energy or “indoor restricting”.here are some indoor safe activities:

1.Make paper planes(the fancier the better) with distance competitions.

2.Tea party or picnic

3.scary stories(night time preferable)

4.FORTS!

5. fashion show/ dance party(work it!)

6.board games

7. spin the bottle(ADULTS ONLY)

8.next chef(cook)

9. Wrestling

asking for help.

when it comes to asking for help, don’t be afraid or ashamed to ask for any help when you need it even if it is an awkward situation like a seizure, it’s best to ask for help than not have it and get more hurt than you would’ve if you had asked. Even if it’s not during a seizure because that’s only half the battle because of the after-effects of the seizure they can leave you weak and disoriented for hours or even days at a time. My advice is to do as much as you think you can and then ask for help so your aid can see that you’ve at least tried to do it yourself. also, studies have shown that screaming “FIRE” will most likely get you help rather than screaming “HELP”. 

What should you yell if you are being attacked (and what does this have to do with getting a job)?

If your response is “Help!” you are wrong. The correct answer is “Fire!” This comes from the case of Kitty Genovese who was murdered in 1964
