“I write to all the churches, and I bid all men know, that of my own free will I die for God, unless ye should hinder me. I exhort you, be ye not an unseasonable kindness to me. Let me be given to the wild beasts, for through them I can attain unto God. I am God's wheat, and I am ground by the teeth of wild beasts that I may be found pure bread [of Christ]”
-Ignatius of Antioch, martyr of God, who we remember on this day

hello! does anyone have any advice/resources for a catholic person looking into anglicanism/episcopalianism? feeling really out of touch/out of place as a queer catholic, and wanting to change...
Catholics, Episcopalians, and Anglicans of Tumblr, please pray to Saints Expedite and Jude for intercession on my behalf. I'm in extremely stressful work and financial straits right now and need their intercession desperately.
Religious life
Found out some monasteries (Episcopal) will consider trans male aspirants and now I'm seeking out how I can discern my calling in life and how best to know how I can serve others and grow as a person. Anyone wanna message me about political action vs religious life as a path to a more just world?
"When such violent dehumanizing words come from the President of the United States, they are a clarion call, and give cover, to white supremacists who consider people of color a sub-human 'infestation' in America," the statement read. "They serve as a call to action from those people to keep America great by ridding it of such infestation," they added. "Violent words lead to violent actions."
The comments come following a slew of weekend tweets from Trump attacking House Oversight Committee chairman and civil rights icon Democratic Rep. Elijah Cummings and his Maryland district, which includes Baltimore. "If he spent more time in Baltimore, maybe he could help clean up this very dangerous & filthy place," Trump tweeted, alleging that Cummings' "district is considered the Worst in the USA" and "no human being would want to live there."
Earlier this month, the President also told four progressive Democratic congresswomen of color -- three of whom were born in the US and the fourth being a naturalized US citizen -- to "go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came."
The Washington-based Episcopal cathedral -- one of the capital's pre-eminent religious institutions that identifies itself as "the sacred space where America gathers at moments of national significance"-- rarely wades into partisan politics. But the group said that it was moved to act after Trump "crossed another threshold," likening the previous week's comments to McCarthyism -- a "similarly dark period in our history."
"Not only did he insult a leader in the fight for racial justice and equality for all persons; not only did he savage the nations from which immigrants to this country have come; but now he has condemned the residents of an entire American city," the leaders said, adding, "Mr. Trump's words are dangerous."
hello! iirc, you’re an Episcopalian right (please correct me if i’m wrong)? i know this has nothing to do with anime or takarazuka, but ngl i’m curious about your thoughts on Bishop Michael Curry’s sermon at the Royal Wedding (ofc if you don’t want to answer this for whatever reason, feel free to ignore it. i won’t be mad or anything haha. i’m just curious)
I am! And what do you know it, I’m on break from choir rehearsal at the Chicago cathedral… Though contrary to some confusing reporting, Michael Curry is not the Bishop of Chicago, merely originally from here…
Anyway, I’ll admit that I didn’t actually read/listen to his sermon, or any of the royal wedding X,D. But I heard great things the morning of when I was at my old campus ministry for a board meeting? But we knew it’d be great, he’s awesome. There’s was even a poster up of him at said campus ministry with his quote “If it’s not about love, it’s not about God.”
But yeah. It’s bad ass he brought of slavery and colonialism at the royal wedding, and made the British Anglicans uncomfortable by bringing up love at a wedding. That last part is totally his thing. And all us Episcopalians were all tickled pink to be in the spotlight for 15 seconds ^^
