My Q&A:
1) Right now, if you could do anything, what would it be?
Finish this stupid Ice Queen cosplay and be 100% ready for Colossal...
2) Biggest regret?
NOT STARTING THIS STUPID THING EARLIER OMFG
3) What are some of your favorite bands/songs?
Welp, I like Cowboy Mouth, the song 'Tell the Girl UR Sorry' is one of my favorites by them, and I'll listen to just about anything Weird Al does... There is a lot of stuff I could list here, I like 80's music and stuff, so it's actually hard to pick favorites...
4) What was your dream to be as a kid? Are you still on that path? If not, what is your dream now?
Well, when I was in the third grade thereabout, I had decided I wanted to be a veterinarian, and then a cartoonist (that went out the window shortly after I realized that I am not the best at arting...), and then I wanted to become a writer, so I never really had a big picture dream as a kid. I'm not really on the path to like, any of these goals anymore, aside from being a writer. I am actually pretty decent at conveying my imagination through the written word better than drawing it out, be it fanfics or an actual thing I came up with myself, but in addition to that goal, I also really want to get into Radiology. I feel like I'm suited for the medical field, and since I was a kid, I guess I knew that, but I've decided that people are the better things to work on at this point...
5) What books would you recommend?
Let's start with the Howl's Moving Castle Trilogy. I picked up Howl's Moving Castle by Diane Wynne Jones after falling in love with the Studio Ghibli movie. The book and the movie are very, VERY different, but Howl is still my favorite Ghibli movie, even if I do like the book a bit better. In the book, Sophie is the oldest of three daughters, and as such she's doomed to fail when going out to see her fortune. Her father died, and her stepmother sent her sisters away to be apprentices to some family friends, while Sophie helped in the hat shop. In the book, Sophie has a magical gift, she can speak life into things. As she was sewing hats together, she'd talk to them like, 'You're such a plain hat, but I'm sure someone will see you for your beauty', and then a lady would buy that hat, and someone would go and see them for their true beauty. It went on like that until one day she made the Witch of the Waste angry, (can't remember why atm, and I can't look it up because my friend still has my copy of the book ><) and she was cursed to be an old woman. That's all I'm going to go into, because I really want to read it again, and I could go on and on for hours... But as I said, this is a trilogy that takes place in the same world. The second book in the trilogy is Castle in the Air, which is a book that feels quite a bit like Disney's Aladdin, with a carpet salesman named Abdullah, who dreams of being a prince and having a lovely garden being the main character. One day someone sells him a magic carpet that at night when he's asleep carries him off to a beautiful garden that belonged to a Princess. Some characters from Howl's Moving Castle appear in this book as well. The third and final book that took place in this world was A House of Many Ways, where a young girl named Charmain ends up house sitting for her wizard uncle's magical house that has very confusing halls and whatnot. She ends up working for the princess of that land in the library, but while they're working, Sophie, Howl, and Calcifer are actually attempting to be helpful as well in guarding the royal family.
I know I went on and on about those three, but another series of books I'd highly recommend is the Edge Chronicles that takes place in a fantasy land full of trolls, and goblins, and elves and all sorts of cool stuff like that, and the first book focuses around a foundling named Twig. I picked these ones up when I was in the seventh grade because I liked the cover art, and the illustrations inside were awesome too. These books are really hard to find when you want to buy to own them... I came across like the full run at Ollie's once... but at the time, I couldn't get them, and then the next time I was there only books 1, 6, and 7 were there ><
6) Are you happy with how things are right now?
Depends. I'm thrilled that I get to go to Colossal this week, I'm also really thrilled that my school plans seem to be falling into place for the fall, but I'm not to thrilled with the fact that the desktop is wirring angrily at me, or that I get stressed out so easily over cosplay stuff, or the fact that I kept jabbing myself with pins and needles earlier...
7) What is your favorite food place(diner, restaurant, whatever) to eat at?
I'd have to say KFC because I hardly ever get to eat there, but I also like any place that has those touch screen drink machines, because I find them REALLY amusing XD
8) What’s your favorite thing about yourself?
The fact that I am a very loving person, and depending on the situation I can keep myself pretty composed... I also have a really great sense of humor.
9) Do you have any pets? If not, would you like to?
Here we go. I have a Rottweiler/Boxer mix named Tor that doesn't like small children, and is kind of blind, and also barks at everything that makes a knocking sound. I also have a Bugg (Boston Terrier/Pug) named Bugg Ugly (Goes by Bugg) who is an absolute little derp and I love him to death. He used to get really freaked out by his own reflection, and likes to chase balls that are bigger than he is... I also have a Peach Front Conure named Kelly, who is very loud and squawky, and bites most people because she hates everyone, but she's small, and she likes me the best out of everyone in my house... She also refuses to grind her beak down to a shorter length, which concerns me sometimes, but she can also say a few things, and sometimes if I set her down on like, the shower curtain rod, she stands on one foot and it looks like she tries to flip me off... And finally I have two Yellow-Bellied Sliders, (they be turtles) named Dribble, who is the smaller one we assume is male, and has always been small so I named him after the turtle from Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing, and then we have the bigger one, who we assume is female, that used to escape the tank when they lived with my grandmother in North Carolina, so I called her Hoodini, and later when she got as big as she is now, I have taken to calling her Gamera, because she's a giant turtle...
10) Do you have a hobby?
I sew, I write, I bake, I attempt to draw, I game occasionally. I have a few hobbies, sure...
11) How do you relieve yourself of stress?
If the option is available, I bake stuff, and if the other option is available, I sew scalemates... It's a very relaxing thing actually... But if all else fails, talking at people, or venting into a journal, or stuffing myself full of chocolate are options that seem to work...
