I like Sky's parents' personalities... they seem quite consistent, even considering their position 😅 The two of them must have been an arranged marriage too. Do you consider the friendship between Oritel and Erandor from Magical Adventure canon in your rewrite?
I'll most likely maintain their friendship. However, rereading the synopsis of the second movie, made me think a little about why it ended.
Here I've explained a little about how things went for Oritel and Marion after the attack on Domino by the Ancestral Witches. It would be interesting to ask why no one tried to rush to Domino's aid? Perhaps in the moment of panic at the first attacks by Valtor and the Witches, King Oritel tried to ask for someone's help. To the Company of Light (obviously) and to his friend and ally King Erendor of Eraklyon but he never arrived.
Erendor, hearing his friend's call for help, didn't lift a finger. He was worried that the Witches might decide to attack his kingdom as well.
So, years later when the Lost Kingdom of Domino is awakened and so are its inhabitants, Erendor will feel terribly guilty towards Oritel. And out of cowardice in facing him he will break their alliance (putting at risk the future engagement between their children Sky and Bloom)
I think this is a deeper way to explain the end of their friendship
Now I am curious 1) how teams are made in Red Fountain and 2) are there more complicated procedures in order to make a team around a prince?
Because obviously, after the initial assessments, the staff would make a decision, and I do think they put into consideration personal requests- in fact those are often automatically accepted, unless it would leave a team horribly unbalanced, for an example, if a group of heavy weight brute force hitters all banded together, not leaving a space for a single tec oriented guy or anyone favoring a different style of fighting.
But what about royalty?
I think Red Fountain does indulge royal and noble families that send their children there, to a certain degree even more than Alfea and Cloud Tower. It is the most well funded school already but they also have the most expenses. Fuel (it is environmentally friendly in Magic Dimension), machine parts, feed for dragons and wyverns, upkeep of military technology, hell even ordinary technology. Alfea and Cloud Tower do not have elevators, for an example, while Red Fountain does. Not to mention that their students on average eat way more than the students of the other two schools lol.
All this meaning, they need all the fucking money they could get.
However, they wouldn't let it affect the actual schooling of the boys, so a guardian flat out picking the teammates for their kid is not allowed. BUT to pacify them, the school adds more requirements for squad members of royalty and high nobility, just so they can cover their asses when a parent inevitably thinks they know better.
This would mean that out of all the relevant candidates, Timmy and Riven were the most impressive ones. Booya.
Erendor absolutely raised a fucking tantrum about it, he wanted a minor Quartian noble on Sky's team instead of Riven, who has no proof of pedigree whatsoever, but the faculty just ignored it very politely, and since Magix is not part of Eraklyon, thank you very much, he had no further means of insistence minus pulling his son out, which was out of the question once he was already enrolled, since it would be shown as the instability of the heir's education.
The guys’s parents, re-redesigned! only focusing on the guys that like. have a more prominent role across the AU, so Thoren’s dad is not here rn, but will come soon! Anyways, onto the copypasted but lightly-changed info:
King Erendor Estene Beaufort and Queen Samara Ashleigh Beaufort née de León of Eraklyon: Sky’s parents. They were originally just a purely political arrangement, but they grew to love each other with time. They firmly believe their way is the correct way, and are very annoyed at Sky whenever he deviates from their plans, Samara more than Erendor. Erendor is a Red Fountain alumni alongside Oritel, while Samara worked as a lawyer before marrying and comes from a very powerful Eraklian house. She was the one that arranged Sky and Diaspro’s marriage and went into panic mode when that fell through.
Rosalía Encanto Ortiz and Gretchen Marigold-Ortiz: Brandon’s mothers. Rosalía is butch mom, Gretchen is buff mom. Mothers of 5 children, they are loving if busy women and have made sure their children grow up to be good people. Rosalía works as a teacher at an elementary school, while Gretchen is a member of the Royal Guard, as well as a Red Fountain alumni.
Terrance and Laura Arancelle: Nex’s parents. They work as acrobats for their traveling troupe under the stage names of The Red Flash (Terrance) and The Teal Glint (Laura), and have been doing so for decades now. They’re both supportive of Nex’s endeavors even if they would have wanted him to keep going with their troupe, and make sure to stay in contact with him often. They’re very much in love, which means they are almost constantly mushy to Nex’s dismay.
Lorenzo and Samantha Ayton: Timmy’s parents. They work as Dolonian researchers, and are completely dedicated to their job, to the point of ignoring everything else, including Timmy. They only did the necessary to keep him alive and healthy and nothing else, never really trying to connect with him emotionally other than empty displays of affection during holidays. Timmy resents them greatly for this, and while they realize they were not good parents, they don’t really make an attempt to be better either, even now that Timmy’s an adult.
Amalthea Altamura (maiden name Estrale): Riven’s mom. His dad Maurizio died when he was very young so he doesn’t have many memories of him, and she doesn’t seem to want to talk about him much either. She has worked her back off to try and give Riven a good life, even if they lived quite the modest life due to lack of funds. As the years went on and the bills started racking up, Riven left for Red Fountain to ease on his mother for a bit, which, while she’s thankful, she’s constantly worried for what might happen to him during battle. She’s an Enchantress, specifically the Enchantress of Star Petals with Flora and Light Sources. She lives off her magic as a diviner and potion-maker.
Corydon Saladin and Izumi Takenouchi-Saladin: Helia’s parents. Corydon is a Guildmaster, while Izumi works as a florist. They were originally the only people that fully supported Helia’s pursuit of art over battle, and respected his pacifist views even when the rest of their family called for his disownment. They’re currently trying to help with his budding career, while also trying to deal with their angry relatives. Corydon was born on Lynphea but spent most of his life in Espero, where he met Izumi.
Asante Daithe and Elaxi Mishra: Nabu’s parents. Nobles of Andros, they had Nabu as part of an arrangement with the royal house, to act as the not-yet-conceived heir’s fiancé. Asante is aloof, but legitimately wanted a kid and tried to give Nabu the right amount of attention, while Elaxi simply acknowledged him as her son and mostly interacted with him out of duty. After the arrangement falls through, Elaxi disowns Nabu, but Asante manages to rebuild a relationship with him and are on decent terms again. Elaxi is from Graynor rather than Andros.
What would the reactions be if Bloom got pregnant before she and Sky married. I imagine Eraklyon would need a new king due to heart attack or aneurysm.
ha ha but actually though.
erendor wouldn't actually drop dead but i can imagine it would have been a close thing. sky definitely would have been dragged in for a lecture about responsibility and proper values that sky put up with about 5 minutes before telling him in no uncertain terms that this is happening, to get on board, and if he dares upset bloom over this he'll never see his grandchild. erendor's speechless for the first time in possibly ever. he probably does warm up once they have the baby because bloom and sky make a pretty cute kid and who can resist that face but he probably always resents the situation at least a little.
samara sides with her husband at first, except she doesn't outwardly disapprove, she just doesn't say much at all. then once bloom's a few months along and the baby's kicks can be felt, bloom asks if she wants to feel. samara feels that little baby's foot and her heart just melts. she doesn't change much outwardly, this is samara after all and she's not a particularly emotional person, but she changes in little ways: a suggestion for a nursery here, and tip about morning sickness there. it's not much but bloom and sky both notice and they appreciate it.
oritel has reservations for like five minutes. not even reservations exactly but he is the more old-fashioned one out of him and miriam so there's a small part of him that is disappointed that they didn't go about this the more traditional way. then he starts making plans and thinking about celebrations and pretty soon he's so excited he's all but forgotten they aren't actually married.
miriam, vanessa, and mike couldn't give less of a fuck that bloom and sky aren't married yet; they're gonna be grandparents and that's all that matters to them.
I really like that in your version the erendor doesn't receive any forgiveness from the oritel. But I'm wondering about the wife finding out about this, would a divorce be possible?
At least something has to happen to Sky, like his mother raising him and giving him more dedicated attention like Amelie and Felix did.
Oh, believe me, Samara isn't much better than her husband
When she found out about Erendor's lack of help, she was more than ready to justify him and kept the secret for him for years (until the Lost Kingdom of Domino was found)
We must also put ourselves in their shoes; they had to think of their people and their planet. As cowardly as it may seem, what else could King Erendor have done against the most evil and powerful beings in the Magic Dimension?
Of course, he could have at least notified the Company of Light himself or the Council of Sovereigns 🙄
I'm curious what sky's parents will look like in rewrite
As for the aesthetic redesign, I still have to think about it. But honestly, their original designs are very nice, I don't think I'll change them too much
As personalities they will remain haughty and pompous assholes
Even if they don't show it, they care about their son but at the same time they condemn him to a marriage thinking that it is the best for him and for the future of the kingdom
Let's just say that until it comes out that Bloom is the lost princess of Domino they aren't the most welcoming in-laws in the world, they are elitist bastards
Regarding the company of light, will they still keep Erendor as an ally, and then the betrayal? Vexius is a great traitor in your rewrite, and would the erendor commit treason out of cowardice?
Let's just say no one besides Erendor knows that he didn't answer Oritel's call for help during the Attack on Domino by the Ancestral Witches and Valtor
But he at least had some minimal knowledge of leaving the Company of Light after that. It's a shame that without Oritel and Marion the Company will dissolve soon after
Here I explain better why Erendor didn't help his friend and Domino
